Chapter 29 by TheSpectator TheSpectator

Search the airport?

No other choice.

As you had guessed from the beginning; the inside of the airport was dark, mostly do to the windows are boarded with rotted boards that have not yet fallen from their nails. Overgrown vines twist around rusted light poles and reach into the slights of the boards from the shattered windows. The entire place smells like an attic filled with decay and rotting fruit. Moisture from the enclosed air has made the air heavy and sticky.

All the cars outside were rusted beyond believe, but even they held onto some kind integrity. This entire building spoke in disarray. There was not a single shred of hope remaining in this god-forbidden place. Even light shamed it. It was all darkness. The light you had was all what gave you an idea where you were going. There wasn't any signs of there being any recent life, which made you wonder if what Alexandra had seen was correct. You probably should have asked how long it's been since they were last inside the building, you figured it was recent, so seeing no odd drawing or signs of crooked worship confused you.

Oh well, no point in fussing. As promised, you start searching the building. One room after another. One terminal after the next. Behind every desk and baggage claim area, bathrooms and food courts. Nothing is found...It isn't until you're stepping around on one of the upper floors. The floor feels mushy and soft, forcing you shift your weight around so you don't fall through. Despite your best efforts in getting closer to another "gate", you still hit a soft spot and fall all the way through and crash an unknown amount of distance to the floor below you.

"Oh, shit!" The world goes dark as your flashlight falls loose from your hands and gets lost as you tumble and spin off the blueprints of the original structure. As as your flashlight did, your world goes black just as you hear some crack from under you. Bones? Your bones? A sharp pain flares up from your ankles just before you lose consciousness.

Black out
