Chapter 22 by RicoLouis RicoLouis

What's next?

Let the Fairy Be.

“Okay. That's enough.” I pulled my hand away. It wasn't like I could fuck her. She pouted, folded her arms, and sat down forcefully making her tits bounce then went back to eating her grape. I plucked a few myself and ate them while I read. After a little while I decided to hit the sack. I hit the ground running in the morning before first light. I knew it was weird but the bed just wasn't the one I was used to no. I managed to buy an empty bag from the stable boy for a copper. I decided to check one more place which was a nearby. As I left the town I saw my little friend again as she kept pace with the horse.

“Morning.” I smiled and she nodded. She flew over and landed on the horses neck and grabbed the headpiece of the bit behind the horses ear. I smiled and picked up the pace. Her tiny silk dress raising to show off her cute little ass. I went to a wet meadow that looked as if it was created from overflow of the white river. I was sure it probably flooded every spring from the melting snow up north and dried up in the fall or winter. The fairy seemed happy to help as she found and pointed them out for me far faster then I could alone. The bag was full though neither of us saw anymore so no need to comeback here. The two of us road back to Huntersrest but just before reaching the town the fairy flew off. She seemed to be wary of the village during the day. I meet with Selena in the alchemist shop and talked about the herb I had found. The red and yellow fire blossoms where the most valuable because they were harder to find but had several different uses because of their pain relieving abilities. One petal brewed into water could be used to ease chronic pain or to help someone sleep. To much though and you would start having hallucinations.

“Oh hello dear.” Belladonna smiled as she came in.

“Look what he found.” Selena said as she held up the flower.

“Lovely. Those typically only grow at high elevation.” Belladonna smiled.

“I was pretty high up. I got to the summit a few leagues from here.”

“Lily told me you got eaten up by faeries trying to help one.” Belladonna smiled.

“We made up. She was following me earlier but flew off when I got to town.”

“Sounds like you made a friend. They don't tend to trust humans easily but are loyal to anyone who shows them kindness. Speaking of kindness. While I have you here mind if I ask a favor?”

“Depends on what it is.” I said.

“Nothing dangerous. I have a shipment coming in on ship tomorrow from back home. Odds and ends that don't grow here. I figure since you live in city and keep coming out this way.”

“I don't see a problem.” I nodded. It be easy for me to head down to the docks and bring her her package.

“Here you will need this.” Belladonna said as she bent over and reached under the counter. One thing you have to love about elves was how pert their tits were. She didn't have a bad body given how old she was.

“Here we are. It's through a dark elf shipping company so the ship won't be hard to miss.” She said as she stood up with the papers.

“Being the only ship full of dark elves.” I nodded.

“Exactly.” Belladonna smiled. “Though the shipping company has a warehouse there as well. It is scheduled to come in around noon though I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Dark elves are many things but punctual isn't one of them.”

I headed outside were I saw Artemis on the porch of the tavern posting a notice of some kind. I couldn't help but admire her figure in her leather riding outfit. She was slender like an elf but had the tits and ass of a human woman. I was so glad she couldn't read my thoughts like her mom could.

“What are you posting?”

“Hey you. Starting to see more and more of you these days. It's a reward for capturing a ghost.” She smiled.

“A ghost?”

'That is what I said. Some of the guys in the area use traps but something has been robbing the traps around the area. Takes the food off of the traps without setting them off. Other traps that have killed something are empty leaving only animal fur and blood.” She shrugged.

“Sounds like you have a thief?”

“That's what I said. Old man Miller said the ghost even stole his boots a few weeks back before all this started. Why would a ghost need shoes. They say its a ghost because not a one of them has seen a single foot print. Even after it rains. Even my dad is stumped.”

“Damn it. Now you got me curious.” I grinned. I swore if it was that damn Imp I would kill it this time.

“Well the town scrapped up a fifty copper reward. Me and you can split it. If we can catch it that is.” She said putting her hands on her hips.

“Lead the way.” I smiled. I hadn't been hunting with a partner since leaving home so this would be fun if nothing else. She went to her house behind her shop and grabbed her horse from the little stable around back. We road across the bridge and along the river bank.

“This is where it has been typically stealing from. People put traps out here so none of the children from town will step on them. Dad put some fresh bait in a few this morning. And it's gone.” She said as she as she hoped off of her horse. I could see the trap clearly in the mud along the seashore.

“Those are your dads prints.” I pointed.

“Yep.”

“He walked through the mud. Stopped at the trap and squatted down to set the trap then went on to the next one. Not a single print.” She shook her head. That's what the prints told me as well. I picked up a stick and tossed it at the trap and it went off at the lightest touch of the branch. Even a bird couldn't had landed on it without setting it off. “Now you see why everyone says we have a ghost. Even if it went through the water it have to come into the mud to get the food.”

“What would a ghost need food for?”

“Okay.” She shrugged and walked away from me. “Is there a point to this or are you just trying to look at my ass.”

“I can multitask.” I said taking that as an open invention. Her ass did look good in leather. “You walk like a woman.”

“What's that suppose to mean?” She turned and put her hands on her hips.

“Feet facing inward. More agile. Your dad's face outward to better distribute his weight as do most men. That's the only reason I noticed the prints inside his prints. Your ghost is probably female. She took the boots because they were small enough to fit her. Though maybe not perfectly.”

“Well she is one clever bitch. She fooled a town full of hunters.” Artemis laughed.

“She stopped here and walked along the roots into the grass.” I pointed were mud was on the roots of the tree trunk. I could see where she had jumped over in the prints were one print was really deep in the front as the mud had sunk in more. Our prey had some knowledge of hunting.

“If that's the case how does she know dad reset the traps... Fuck.” Artemis shook her head.

“What?”

“Every hunter who puts traps on this side of the river has to cross the bridge. She probably waits and watches the trappers. Tails them.” Artemis looked the way we came.

“We don't need to follow these tracks. We need to know where she came from.” I looked back the way we came. We rode back to the bridge and dismounted.

“I will take this side and you take that side.” She said.

“Got it.” I nodded and walked along the road looking for prints of any kind. We talked about my fairy friend. Truthfully not a lot to tell. It wasn't like we had a long conversation where I could ask her all about other faeries.

“Jack pot.” I smiled and bent down looking at a pair of prints.

“Diffidently female. Looks like were going that way.” Artemis nodded with her head. I think she was having as much fun as I was. Hunting a prey that had alluded so many other hunters. We went through some woods until we stumbled onto a small run down hut. The smell of smoke despite it being daylight. I looked at Artemis and nodded my head. Touched my chest and pointed one way then pointed at her and the other way and she nodded in response and went around the side of the cabin. I drew my bow just encase it wasn't something I wanted to find or she had a weapon. I came around and saw a small figure by a fire eating meat from a stick she had used to cook it. Ravenously tearing into the meat. She herd me and looked and I saw it was a hobgoblin. She still looked pretty young but not a kid.

“It's okay. I don't mean you no harm.” I said putting my bow down. She went to run but Artemis came around the other side. “Hey. No one is going to hurt you.” I said and squatted down. “Can you understand me?” I asked and she looked at me.

“I am thinking that is a no.” Artemis frowned.

“Okay.” I pointed to her, then to my mouth and rubbed my belly. She nodded in response I grabbed my coin purse and shook it. Pointed at her, then rubbed my belly, and held out my hand. She shyly crept forward and took it.

“What did you say to her?” Artemis asked.

“I offered to buy some food I think.” I had no clue if she understood me or not but she was willing to follow me at least. We took her back to town and to Artemis's house. Lily got the girl some bred and cheese which the poor girl tore into. She hadn't left my side since we had meet and she had only let go of my hand to use both hands to eat and drink. Aaron talked to her in goblin which surprised me he even knew how to but at least he could understand her.

“Poor thing.” Lily said as she sat next to me.

“Can you read her thoughts?” I asked thinking it would make things easier.

“Very little. People think in their head in their native tongue. I only know lowlander and a few elven tongues.”

“She is cleaver as hell. Never would have found her if not for our master hunter here.” Artemis smiled at me as she sat across from me next to her dad.

“Indeed.” Lily smiled at me.

“What you get from her?” Artemis asked her dad after they had seemed to have finished their chat.

“Basically from what she told me the goblins are having a civil war of some kind. They killed her father or the goblin she called her father and took her mother away. She managed to escape and has been hiding since. She has been told enough stories about humans that she is scared of us which is why she hid.”

“And has been hiding in the woods all this time. Poor thing.” Lily said stroking her hair.

“What will you do with her?” I looked at the two of them.

“She can stay here for now.” Lily said and then looked at her husband. “You are the only person she can talk to and we have the room and food. I will make it up to you later dear.” She smiled.

“Ewe. Mom.” Artemis made a face knowing good and well what her mom was implying.

“Suppose I owe you half of the reward.” Aaron looked at me.
