Chapter 6 by SotF SotF

How awkward is it?

Surprisingly not very.

Much to Tara’s surprise, her next meeting with Power Girl was hardly awkward at all. It was a little awkward sure, but that was to be expected. Seeing the superheroine after masturbating while thinking about her was weird. It was also a little difficult to ignore her honeypot growing a progressively wetter. And of course, Tara was still lacking in social skills. But overall it went okay. In fact, Tara suspected it went well.

Power Girl found her at her normal spot in Centennial Park. It was a little off the beaten path. A few turns from the big Superman statue, but not too far away from it or the picnic tables. Perfectly positioned to ensure some foot traffic but not a large crowd. Tara was a little worried the other woman wouldn’t be able to spot her. Or maybe she would go to a different park when she realized she never said the word “Centennial” out loud. But after the Kryptonian showed up she knew it was silly to worry. Being faster than a speeding bullet and having supervision must have made it easy to find stuff.

At first Power Girl just hung out. Signing a few autographs and listening to Tara tickle the ivories. The musician for her part decided to start her improv early in the set since the heroine said she liked it. It was surprisingly nice to actually play for another person instead of just playing purely for the love of music.

And when she took a break. The two sat on a bench and chatted. A pleasant chat between two new friends. Until Power Girl had to get back to her heroics and Tara her music. Saying goodbye as the blonde promised to swing by again.

After that Tara had been so excited she smiled for the rest of the day.

It quickly became a routine for them. Admittedly Power Girl didn’t exactly have a set schedule. So it wasn’t always the exact same. For instance, on Monday the heroine had only long enough for a quick hello before being called to battle some alien bounty hunter. And on Tuesday Power Girl came by the café, much to Mrs. Guidry’s amazement. And apparently, the Kryptonian would be coming back given how she gushed about how much she liked the coffee there. On Wednesday the two shared a coffee (picked up from Café Au Lait by the blonde) as they hid from a surprise thunderstorm under a Gazebo near Tara’s spot in the park. On Thursday the two had lunch together. It was Chinese takeout from a place Power Girl swore was the best she ever had. The food was delicious, but Tara could have done without the blonde teasing her over her inability to use chopsticks.

One thing that was always the same though was what Tara did when she got home. Every day when the short girl got home she would instantly strip. And then masturbate furiously. She couldn’t help it. She did her best to not let on when they were together, but being around Power Girl always got her so stupidly horny. So before she could do anything else she had to get off. And while she preferred her imagination more often than not she would find more pictures like the ones on Babes In Capes. It turns out there are a lot of pictures of the Kryptonian heroine online. It seems she wasn’t alone in playing with herself to sexy photos of Power Girl. That thought was both strangely comforting and deeply disconcerting.

It was only on Friday as she left the café that Tara realized they had seen each other every day that week. And that it was the happiest week she ever had. And just how disappointed she was that she didn’t see the blonde at the café during her performance. She knew it was silly to miss the heroine as much as she did. They just had lunch together the day before. Really she should be grateful to have been able to see Power Girl as much as she did. A superheroine’s time was incredibly valuable and she had been given a lot of it.

So as she walked back to her apartment she did her best to maintain a stiff upper lip. And she did pretty well. Until she suddenly didn’t have to.

“Hey, Tara.” Standing in an otherwise unremarkable alleyway Tara was walking past stood Power Girl. Looking uncharacteristically nervous with her arms hugging herself.

“O-Oh,” Tara jumped at the unexpected greeting but recovered quickly. “H-Hey… Power Girl.”

The musician stepped into the alley with her friend, guessing she was in there for a reason. Probably hoping to avoid a crowd. A desire the skinny girl could get behind. It took a moment for the conversation to get going. But eventually, Power Girl spoke again.

“I,” The blonde started before stopping. Her voice was unusually heavy with emotion. “I’m sorry I missed you at the café. I just got caught up with this thing with The Shade and… And I’m just sorry ok?”

“It’s fine.” Tara did her best to reassure her. “That sounds important.”

The blonde sighed heavily at that.

“I know.” The Kryptonian said, but her tone suggested that she didn’t really believe it. “I just feel bad for missing you play.” After a moment she continued, looking the black-haired girl dead in the eyes. “Look Tara, I’ve really enjoyed spending time with you. I really liked our little routine.”

Power Girl took another deep breath. Steeling herself for whatever she said next. Meanwhile, Tara began to panic. Was this the end of… whatever this was? She didn’t know if she could handle that.

“Tara I really like spending time with you. I really like you.” Power Girl said, “But this doesn’t work for me.”

The younger girl felt her eyes sting with tears. This was it. This was how it ended. She was going to lose her only friend.

“No, no, no!” The Kryptonian woman blurted out in a panic. “Please don’t cry. I am just saying I want more!”

“Wha…” Did she just say?

“It’s just that… I really enjoy spending time with you. But just stealing a few moments here and there isn’t good enough for me. I want to spend more time with you. And to do that…” The blonde woman paused before continuing. “And to do that I need to make some choices. I need, no I want, to be more open with you. So… Shit I had this all planned out. Fuck it. Tara, do you want to have dinner tomorrow?”

The world froze. Somewhere in Power Girl’s speech, Tara had stopped breathing. This couldn’t be real. This couldn’t be happening. She couldn’t be hearing this. So she was stuck, standing in wide-eyed disbelief. Until her mouth moved on its own, her voice coming out in a faint whisper.

“Like… a d-date?” Tara could barely hear her voice over the hammering of her heart. She was concerned Power Girl wouldn’t be able to hear her. She wasn’t sure she could get the words out again. Fortunately, Kryptonians had super hearing.

“Not just like a date.” The heroine’s confidence returned. “An actual date. One with all the bells and whistles. Not just some Chow Mein in the park.”

It was at that point Tara started hyperventilating. It was too much. She put a hand on the concrete wall to stabilize herself, doing her best to calm down. It may have even been possible, but the blonde woman rushed to her aid. Who put her hands on the gasping girl’s shoulders. The close proximity with the beautiful woman did not help her calm down.

“Easy Tara. Breathe.” Power Girl said, coaching her through some breathing exercises. Before continuing. “I know this is kinda sudden. And it’s probably too soon. But, well I guess I’m just ready for more. So just think of it as a standing offer, you don’t have to say yes righ-”

“YES!” Tara shouted. The blonde woman’s jaw dropped and her eyebrows shot skyward. Then after a moment, an excitable smile blossomed on her face.

“Really!?” The Kryptonian asked eagerly. After Tara nodded she went on. “That’s great! Oh man, you have no idea how worried I was. I had myself convinced you’d say no.”

“Wh-What?” The skinny girl was completely flabbergasted. “You thought I’d say no?”

“Well kinda.” The older woman said sheepishly before changing to the subject. “Here take this.”

Power Girl grabbed her cape and ran her fingers along an unremarkable patch of the red fabric. This proved to be a hidden pocket from which she fished out a small card. She handed it to Tara who looked it over. It was a plain rectangle of high-quality card stock. On one side there was an address, written in a neat, loopy script. Flipping it over she saw the other side bore a lipstick kiss. Its peachy-pink color matched the heroine’s lipstick.

Tara did her best to ignore the prickly heat suffusing her face as she looked up at Power Girl. The blonde seemed quite pleased with her reaction.

“Come to that address tomorrow. Say 4:30.” The Kryptonian spoke with feigned nonchalance, but it was clear she was excited. “That’s where I work. Tell the lady at the front desk you're there to see Karen.”

“Should I-” Tara began but was quickly interrupted.

You don’t need to do anything but show up. I’ll take care of everything.” Power Girl said confidently. It was then that something occurred to the musician.

“Karen?” She asked. Did the heroine just tell her her real name?

“I’ll see you tomorrow Tara,” Karen said. Smirking down at her future date the woman lifted into the air. “But for now duty calls.”

She got into position to rocket off towards the horizon. But she suddenly stopped. Turned to look back down at the black-haired girl one more time. And spoke.

“You’re cute when you blush by the way. I’ve wanted to say that for a week.”

Then, with a wink and a roar of wind, she flew off. Leaving Tara alone in the alley.

“Karen.” She muttered.

Date night?
