Morning Developments

You wake up hearing your phone vibrating on the bed stand. Reaching over to grab it you notice you don’t feel sore anymore, but you are exhausted. You check the time on your phone, 6AM you only slept for like two hours, but more importantly you see who's been trying to get up with you. You have 5 texts and now 4 missed calls from your mother.

“She must have seen that my car wasn’t outside when she went for her morning workout today.” you say to yourself.

Before you can call her back your phone starts vibrating as your mother is once again calling you. Feeling slightly annoyed with her for blowing up your phone you answer.

“Hey mo-” you start before being cut off.

“Finally! Where are you?! Did you stay out all night you didn’t even tell me you were going out?” you mom says cutting you off. As she was talking you quickly got out of bed and made your way to the bathroom so you wouldn’t wake up Sarah.

“Well it’s not like we we’re on talking terms yesterday. You avoided me all day. I decided to go over to Ross’ last night and stayed over.”

Your mother is silent for a few seconds.

“When are you coming home?” your mother asks calmly

“As soon as I get dressed I guess” you say, taken back by the calmness in her voice.

“Okay I know we need to talk so when you get back we’ll go out to the garden and do it there.”

“Okay” you say.

‘What is there to talk about’ you think to yourself as you hang up the phone.

You look at the text from your sister for a few minutes.

‘I guess she’s still mad. I’m gonna make things right with her though.’ you resolve to yourself.

The bathroom door opens and Sarah, now wrapped in a towel, walks out and sits on the bed beside you.

“I guess we should talk about last night.” she says laying back.

“Okay.” you say turning to face her “You first.”

“Well, I guess I should let you know that what happened last night is not how things usually go with me. In fact last night was really weird now that I look back on it.
