Talk to the demon

"Hi there," you say, taking a cautious step toward him.

"Hello," he replies. "Are you going to hurt me?"

You blink, startled. "No, I won't hut you. Are you going to hurt me?"

"I don't want to," he says, wringing his hands again, "but my cousin told me how vicious humans can be, and if I don't do what I was told, I won't get what I was promised, and I don't know if I can do that."

You are wary of a trick, because this is a demon, after all, but he seems relatively harmless. "Unfortunately, humans can be vicious sometimes, but I'm not," you tell him. "Why don't you tell me what it is that you're supposed to do, and maybe I can help you."

"I'm supposed to- to entertain the sorcerer," he says. "He likes to watch while we demons...um...you know...with Adventurers."

"Wait, that sick bastard wants to watch you fuck me? Is that what you're saying?" He nods. "And what did he promise you, if you do this?"

"The same thing he promises all demons - to let us stay in this world, to not send us back through the Hellgate. You can't imagine how miserable it is over there."

"And if you do stay here, what will you do? Possess people and destroy cities?"

"No! That sounds awful," he says. "I just want someplace quiet to live, a little shack, or even a cave, and a garden where I can grow some flowers. I like flowers."

"Are you for real?" you ask.

The demon stares at you blankly. "I don't understand."

"Are you being honest and sincere?" you clarify. "Or are you trying to deceive me?"

"Oh. I was being honest." He looks uncertain. "Should I have tried to deceive you? Oh, I'm doing this all wrong! I never should have volunteered for this!" He slumps down against the wall, covering his face with his hands. You're not sure, but he might be crying.
