Chapter 4 by Gatsha Gatsha

What defender will meet the hero and/or the villain?

Lanus bumps into the fleeing Fishfreak. (Bad luck)

"DRAT... I supPOSE I could not BE FORtuNATE enough TO arRIVE in a BOdy of WATER..."

All things considered, Fishfreak probably didn't have room to complain. She'd brought enough of her minions to restore her body, although she'd had to use everything available to her. The resulting form was a curvy, naked woman of ordinary human size... just one who happened to be blue, with rows of monstrous teeth and an alien jellyfish forming her upper head. Still... she'd cleanly escaped Gaia Daughter. And, even better...

She could sense them. She couldn't tell where she was, but she could sense aquatic beings close... Just as importantly, she could tell they were both fantastic and powerful. Some sea creatures that could actually put up a fight sounded like just what she needed to prepare for her counterattack.

First things first... she wasn't underwater, which meant she was going to need to rely on good-old-fashioned eyesight to gather her bearings. Concentrating, she brought forth a head-lantern, as one would expect to see on a lanternfish. She adjusted its bio-luminescence until the yellow orbs which functioned as her eyes could clearly perceive her surroundings in the dark...

"HUH." Fishfreak was sure she was in a place far from Earth... The room she was in, however, looked almost exactly like a structure one would expect to see on her home planet. It had blue wallpaper with a pattern like waves, as well as dark blue carpeting, nearly black in the low light. She could tell this place was probably low lit even when the minimal light fixtures were on...

There were two glass doors ahead of her, and she could tell there were strange fish either place. Although they were glass, it was difficult to see through it with the limited light source she had available. It would be more helpful if could find some labels. She couldn't see any... but there was a note on a piece of paper, tacked to the wall with little decoration. "Time to EMploy the WISDOM of HUMANS," the monster muttered, leaning in close as the lit orbs of her eyes scanned the paper:

This aquarium appeared here yesterday. The Princess has requested I make sure nobody messes with these fish until she has a chance to see them. But I don't care, so do what you want.

To the left is the DANGEROUS FISH exhibit. Mekanee, I recommend reaching in and grabbing these ones with your bare hands.

To the right is the WEIRD FISH exhibit. Mekanee, I hear these ones are delicious with a white wine sauce.

-Yours truly,

Jervale

"Huh... HueheHE... GeeeheeeeeUeUEUE!!" Fishfreak threw her head back and laughed, unable to believe her luck. "'DanGERous FISH?!' I KNEW IT!! I can FEEL their POWer and the STRENGTH of this PLAnet's SEA! It must FAvor me JUST as the OCEANS of EARTH DO! PrePARE for an ENTIREly NEW THREAT, pesKY GAIA DaughTER!!"

Licking her lips with her large, frog-like tongue, the monster pressed her face against the glass of the left door, searching it without intelligence for some way to enter in her excitement. Finally, she found a mechanical push bar and leaned against it. "Come to ME, my MINIONS-!"

The noisy intruder froze with her mouth open in a wide, toothy grin. Along the walls were glass cases for displaying many horrifying sea creatures... calling it a room of fish would be misrepresenting it. There were apparently enormous frogs, fish that were more teeth than body... and, even further stretching the definition, displays for spear-wielding mermen and an enormous octopus, with tentacles as thick as tree trunks...

Weren't there? She could only tell that was what she was supposed to be seeing because of the large, illustrated information displays beside the cases. In reality, there was only one fish, an enormous, menacing shark with glowing eyes-

Quickly, it was gone as well.

As Fishfreak remained frozen in shock, her orbs perceived the... man...? The... beast... in the center of the aisle between displays. She couldn't tell how, but... the entire body of that shark had just disappeared into something the size and shape of a human... She heard the creature burp, then a repetitive licking sound.

"That THING... is GOing TO TURN this WAY."

Feeling her skin crawl, cold and clammy, the monster didn't bother to fix her frozen, grinning face as she carefully took two steps back, then shut the door, ever so carefully, as silently as possible. Once she was out of the room, feeling various quickening pulses and flight responses she associated with the various prey that composed her body, Fishfreak stalked to the other room. "It has NOT gotTEN here YET. I can STILL sense MANy LIFE forms... I can STILL save THEM. Or M-MAYbe THEY can SAVE ME!" The now uncharacteristically fearful daughter of the sea stepped into the room that apparently displayed "weird fish," determined to gather her strength. She could tell it wouldn't be long before that alien hunter joined her...

What can Fishfreak do?
