Druuna pays for the pass.

Druuna weighed the decision carefully. She didn’t have much money, and it was a reasonable offer…but she couldn’t do it. After being chased twice in the last two days, getting very little sleep, and having to spend nearly all of her money buying overpriced merchandise from a lecherous old man, Druuna was just too tired to do it. Druuna looked over at the two lusty guards ogling her and shook her head.

Druuna took thirty-five bottle caps from her belt and gave them to the city guards. The scarred one sadly took her money and gave her a flat scrap of aluminum with a crude tree symbol carved into it.

The other man smiled at Druuna and said
“Here’s your pass. It’ll allow you to enter Greenport free of charge, anytime you want. This is your first time in the city, so I’ll give you a rundown of the rules here. First, no firearms are allowed to be carried around in the city. Turn on the safety and holster the thing or you’ll get a strike. Second, you can’t attack someone except in self defense, or in a licensed pit fight. Any fighting outside of those two exceptions will get you a strike. Killing outside of those two exceptions will result in you being arrested, stripped of all possessions and thrown out of the city. Third, stealing is a crime, obviously. Do it and you get a strike. Four, bringing radioactive material into the city is illegal. You have to go past rad sensors on the way in, so get rid of any contaminated contraband before you enter. Finally, prostitution within the upper class district is illegal unless you get a permit with the courtesans guild. Anywhere else you can do as you wish. Whenever you commit a low level crime, you will get a mark on your citizenship card. Get four marks and you will arrested and taken to court. If found guilty you can face anything from a fine to public ****, depending upon the severity of your crimes.” he winked at Druuna and added “And if you ever need anything, the city watch maintains a guard post in every section of the city, except for the slums and docks. I work over at the temple street post myself. Drop by and see me anytime.”

Druuna took the card and smiled at both of them “Thank you. I just might do that. I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about the city? I don’t have a lot of money to wander around aimlessly.”

The scarred man responded “Well there’s a cheap inn over by the docks called the “Lusty Mermaid”. It’s usually used by sailors and pirates, but they’ll sell you lodgings at a cheap rate. One point of interest is the finders guild. They have access to abandoned areas from before the disaster that are full of treasures that are just waiting to be dug up. I’d advise you to stay clear of the slums. Some of the worst scum of the earth live down there, and pretty girls like you don’t last long in that area.”

Druuna thanked them both for their help and walked through the city gates. The city was massive, and smell of the sea mingled with that of smog and sweat.
