What happens on your date?
Evelyn lets you in on a secret and Paige has you worried
“How many dates have this been?” Brad whines. “It’s so unfair.”
You can hear Brad talk to the other guys who all eye you with venom as you walk down the stairway, dressed for your date. The night would be cold, so you had a jacket over your dress shirt and dress pants tonight.
Jenna comes up to you and fixes your collar and straightens out your clothes, “Have fun.”
You frown. Jenna must trust you enough to not go through with the world-shaking quest the AMA just gave you. Make Love with Evelyn? That was way too fast, but the failure results would be catastrophic for you. Could you survive without the AMA? You didn’t know. Paige was missing from the departure party. Paige was probably upset that her sister would choose you. The dynamic of that family relationship was something you hope you can fix - just not by getting into Evelyn’s pants.
When Evelyn walked down, you must have had the same dumb look you had when Paige first came down for your date. Evelyn wasn’t wearing her glasses and had on a stunning black dress with a length of gold running down it. Her long red hair parted and fell to her straps, and between them was porcelain skin and two large and dangerous orbs that beckon stares. Like her sister, she had long legs and managed to be graceful and elegant while seeming fun at the same time.
“You look nice,” You say blankly, intensely trying to not stare in several places your eye wanted to wander over.
“Thanks, Matt. You look really good too. You ready?” Evelyn asks, her lips curling a bit, and she bites her lower lip and takes your arm.
You and Evelyn, both wave goodbye to the crowd, gathered at the door who shout jokingly, “Matt did you remember to bring your condoms” and “Bring her back by ten,” and you are sadly reminded of a time long ago. Evelyn pokes you and asks, “What’s wrong?”
“No… I was just thinking about my first date with Paige,” You say. Stupid thing to say.
“You really like her, huh?” Evelyn says.
Nodding, you say, “Sorry, this is your date… I shouldn’t bring her up.”
“It’s alright. Let’s just have fun tonight, Matt,” Evelyn says and holds your hands. “If getting to know you will bring me closer to Paige, then let’s just have fun.”
The two of you were driven to a helipad and then boarded a helicopter that flies you across the sea towards Barcelona. The copter flies towards a clearing and lands on the rooftop helipad. You help Evelyn get out and are directed by the crew towards a car that takes you to the Warrior Rooftop of Gaudi's La Pedrera. You both stare in owe at the spectacular architecture and stone statues by Gaudi illuminated in various flickering technicolor. The whole night scenery felt like something out of an elusive ****-filled dream. Evelyn clutches your arm, and you two stand close to each other, just admiring the show.
“What are your parents like, Matt?” Evelyn asks in the middle of the conversation while the two fo you stand over a railing overlooking the scenery.
“I don’t know. Normal, I guess. My dad’s the silent type, and my mom’s a hoverer.” You answer. Thinking back to the video, you decide to ask her about her family. “How about yours?”
“They’re great…” Evelyn answers.
“But?”
“Umm… I wish.. oh god, my mom probably watches this show,” Evelyn says and turns red. She closes the distance between you and her and whispers, “I wish they would stop treating me like a little girl.”
“I think all young people think that about their parents though.”
“You don’t understand,” Evelyn continues to whisper, her floral scents covering you and her softness caressing your body as she presses herself closer to make sure the cameras don’t record her “badmouthing” her family. “I can’t go out on dates, I can’t like… even see guys. My curfew is like eight. I’m not even allowed to drive the car by myself.”
“Sounds… harsh.”
“I know it’s seems like I'm being dramatic about it, but every time I’m out or with my friends, my mom’s constantly calling me or texting me and… it’s annoying, but I can’t really tell her.” Evelyn says, her face flush with shame.
“I’m sure that’ll change, right? I mean you are on here after all. You’ll be off to college soon. Maybe they’ll find out you aren’t a little girl anymore.”
“I hope so… I mean, that’s one of the reasons why I came on here.”
“And to kiss Mona, of course,” You say, trying to hide a smile.
“Shut up,” Evelyn smiles back, playfully hitting your shoulder. “You made me do that.”
“As if. You could have drunk it.”
19: 21 – Evelyn’s affection, love, and lust has increased by 5 – She is enjoying the date
“It’s just nice, you know,” Evelyn says, and she wraps her arms around you.
“What is?” You ask.
“When you're being told your whole life the right and proper things to do, and you decide to make your own decisions and take control of your life,” Evelyn says, still smiling.
Something occurred to you then. You stare blankly over the canvas of stone statues and look down at your phone.
Afterward, you descend spiral steps down the Flower Courtyard and have dinner in a café.
As you walked past the stone tiles, both you and Evelyn avoided the cracks in the pavement, feeling like two kids and laughing all the while.
You excused yourself to wash your hands before eating and use the washroom. When you enter the restroom, two production assistants, presumably on break, we're in there talking. They were both at the urinals, doing their business, and engage in a conversation. You dispense some soap at the sink and couldn’t help but eavesdrop.
“I don’t know what it was, dude,” One said to the other. “They brought in a medical hospital and rushed her to the hospital. Tony was freaking out about it.”
“That sucks. I hope she’s alright. Hopefully, it’s just like girl troubles,” The other one remarks.
Your ear perks up at this, and you interrupt them.
“Who had to be rushed to the hospital?” You ask one of them, rubbing your hands with soap.
The one on the left shakes himself and then zips up and uses the sink next to you. “Paige. We got a call from back at the Villa that she had to be rushed to the hospital. It’s nothing life-threatening I think, though. Something about stomach cramps and vomiting or some shit.”
Worry overwhelms you, and you start to panic. You vigorously wash your hands with water and then ask, “Where did they take her?”
“Beats me. A medical helicopter flew her to some hospital in town. You’ll have to ask someone else dude,” The production assistant said and then starts washing his hands.
Unsure what to do, you dry your hands and leave to go back to Evelyn. A nagging sense of anxiety and guilt looms over you. When you arrive back at the table, you take a sip of the champagne that was left there and then look at the camera crew pointing the camera towards your table.
“Is anything wrong, Matt?” Evelyn asks.
“I think Paige is being hospitalized,” You say.
Evelyn shows genuine concern and says, “Oh my god. Is she alright?”
“I’m not sure. Do you mind if I go ask?” You ask.
Evelyn shakes her head, and you get up and walk towards one of the assistant producers by the name of Clarice and talk to her. She is confused and unsettled by your approach.
“Clarice… What’s up with Paige? Is she alright?” You ask the small butch producer.
“Matt, she’s fine. Go back to your date. This is inappropriate,” Clarice says, annoyed that you would interrupt her.
“I need to know what happened to her. Where is she right now?” You ask, a bit of anger and harshness in your voice.
“Matt. I told you she’s fine. We’re handling it. Just go back to your date,” Clarice says, more annoyance in her voice this time.
“I’m not going until you tell me what’s going on.”
“Look, she complained about cramps different, okay? It’s not life-threatening, but we didn’t want to take any chances, so we flew her to Hospital Del Mar. The doctors are checking her out now, but she’ll be fine. Please just go back to your date.” Clarice answers with finality, a look on her face like “just try asking me one more time.”
You sigh and go back to your table and sit down.
“So?” Evelyn asks.
“They said she’s fine, she’s just being checked out at the hospital,” You answer. As the waiters brought out the food, you realize you couldn’t eat any of it and set it aside. You completely lose your appetite.
Evelyn reaches over and holds your hand. “I’m sure it’ll be fine. Paige is a strong girl.”
“Yeah,” You say and reluctantly sip on more champagne, your mind in a completely different place.
What happens to Paige and your date?
