Jade deflects her suspicions

“Of course not! Do you think I would sell my body to that asshole JASON, of all people?” Jade retorted, lying through her teeth to do so.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Selene replied apologetically. “Sorry, Jade. I didn’t mean that you were like m...that kind of loose girl. I know you’d be faithful to Mike.” Jade felt a pang of guilt at Selene’s words. She didn’t deserve Selene’s faith, she felt.

On another note, Selene had said something weird, Jade noticed. ‘Like m’? Selene was going to say something, but she quickly changed to ‘that kind of loose girl’. Maybe she meant to say something like ‘like Mandy’, the girl who made a sex deal with Jason to get a spot on the cheerleading team?

Why did she have to change her statement? Saying ‘like Mandy’ would’ve gotten the message across...
