After finishing Breakfast and catting with your mother about something your Aunt says she has to return to the Sheriffs office and as you have nothing to do here and need to give a proper statement catch a lift with her. As you drive along this is the first time you have had a chance to see the town, it is now just a ghost town the shops are all shut, the dinner is closed and you see not a single soul out on the streets. "Is it always this empty now aunt Ava, I haven't been outside since I got released from the hospital, I didn't think it was this bad, no one is out even during the day light".

Sighing your aunt gives you the lowdown on the town, "people who have not been infected by the virus are staying indoors following guidelines laid out by the CDC but the number of those is dropping fast, those who have already had the virus well the men are pussies and the women are either doing what they can to help if they only got the beta version or are in the care centre if it was the alpha version, that's where a lot of the women are working so the only ones moving around are in one area". Getting that you cannot help but say," but the town just seems so empty now".

Your Aunt then gives you the official numbers and oh god, "I know but the towns population before the virus was in a state were we had a lot people over 60. That numbered 25% of the towns population that's 3000 dead now that leaves only 9000 people, so when the men over 16 got the virus in the beginning most of them died as well that is more than 2000 people dead, then you had the **** evacuation of all children, that was around 3000 kids. The children under 14 years of age are immune thank you god for that and once that was found they got pulled to save zones or clean ones for their own protection. Then we have the men only a 1000 came up clear of the virus so they got shipped out to a clean zone, that just leaves as with around 3000 men and women left now out of that number another 2000 men and women have died from the virus leaving us with a population of only 1000 men and women 2/3 infected with the alpha or beta version of the virus.

Wow the town is nothing now, "aunt Ava have you had the virus in anyway or the Sheriff and Deputy Boch". Shaking her head your Aunt looks unhappy kind of, "me and Jenny have not had it yet but Dizzy got the beta version a week into this mess so if me and Jenny go down with the alpha version Dizzy gets a promotion". Shocked to hear that you thought your Aunt had already had it as she is involved in running gun battles with crazed freaks almost every night now it seems from what she has said. "If you have not had it why do you still help, I mean why not try and wait it out, not have running gunfights like an episode of some zombie horror show, and anyway how many of these freaks are out there, you make it sound like you battle dozens of these things every night surely they are not all from town ".

Your aunt just shakes her head and says duty for the first part, you know the reason its her sense of duty to look after everybody, but still it worries you. The last part on the other hand worries you just as much but for very different reasons. " Some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to house all the captured freaks in a few large holding areas for easy study, so sites were chosen all over the country to house the freaks and lucky us we get two. One just outside of town and another two towns over as that place is gone no one came out of that place alive after the virus burnt through that town in days due to god knows what. But some dumbass dropped the ball and the facility they used was not up to the task of holding the freaks and they escaped. The official number of freaks who got released numbers at around 400 that's every man from the towns within a few hundred miles that turned, we have killed or captured if including last night only 40 or fifty of the infected men and they seem to be operating in larger groups then we got told. Thank god they have an aversion to being out in the daytime other wise we would be in a lot of trouble".

Pulling up you both enter the station and as the door goes off the Sheriff looks out of her office and she looks like she has not slept at all, "Ava thanks for bringing him over you can head on home now I need you out again for night patrol with Dizzy, I would say do you need to rearm after last night but I know you have more firepower then god at home so get going". Your Aunt hesitates, "Jenny you need sleep too your burning both ends of the candle it will catch up with you if your not careful you already look awful please get some sleep".

Snorting the Sheriff waves off your Aunts concerns, "It is ok Ava I have my bed over in the corner once I have Timothy's statement, I will hit the sack ok its not like anyone calls us unless its a freak sighting or someone has come down with the virus and that is going down in number". Seeing she is not going to be able to do anymore you Aunt holds up her hands, "ok see you later Timothy I'll pop over with some stuff tomorrow unless anything happens, bye".

Ava leaves the station and you give a statement to the Sheriff about what happened last night, all is going well till she has to fill in about Kieran and just seems to lose it. "Why do I even bother with this crap, all they want to know is did someone get infected by the freak, did we get the freak alive, why not, how many more people have died or been infected and what version did they get, fuck this crap". The sheriff gets up and starts pacing in anger and vents, just as you are about to try and say something or ask if you should go she remembers you are still around and turns on you. "Oh and of course we have you the luckiest son of bitch in the world gets the alpha virus and comes out the other side no problems, not like my son of a bitch husband noooo he has to catch the alpha version from Mandy Gaunt the little whore. He just had to go find some skinny little bitch because I am too much for him in bed, I wouldn't have cared that much but he gave it to my babies and now they are just like Mandy".

Holy crap balls this is way out of your comfort zone Mandy Gaunt was a girl at your school, so was the Sheriffs daughters a pair of very cute twins Jemma and Jasmine if truth be told.
