Chapter 28 by TheTruePenguin TheTruePenguin

Is there anything else you've forgotten?

Just a few things

The next day was the funeral, and it rained like the heavens themselves were weeping for Mark who the group could see off to the side, standing next to his mother, who even under an umbrella, was having to dab at her eyes.

The quartet stood in silence as Mark's coffin was lowered into the ground, and Mark gave one final hug to his mother before walking towards another man the group could see, who wrapped him in a hug as the pair began to fade away, but not before Mark gave one final wave in thanks.

"I'm going to miss him, I wish I'd got to meet him when he was still alive, I think, we could've been good friends." Piper whispered as her sister hugged her between them, consoling their sister.

"God, what's wrong with me, even when I knew he was going to have to leave soon, I still... first a warlock, and now a ghost, what's next a werewolf?" Piper lamented as you began to make your way back to the Jeep.

"Well, if he's a human, just be careful that you don't mind keeping our secret from him." Prue added as both her sisters looked at her.

"Are you still having trouble deciding whether or not to tell Andy?" Phoebe asked, as Piper sniffled.

"It's not that, it's just, how do you tell someone you're dating that you've been keeping such a huge life altering secret from them, even more so with Andy since he's known us since forever. I mean it's not just me, it's also your secret, and if we have children will they be witches too? I-I just don't know." Prue tapered off as you held the door open for the sister to climb into the Jeep.

"Well, not to sound like a broken record, but I think you should tell him soon, because the longer you let it build, the worse it will be. Besides, you never know, he may be totally fine with you being a witch, some guys are." Phoebe said, looking at you as you smiled, taking her words in as well since they applied to you too.

"So how did things go with the Cadillac guy?" Prue asked as you made your way home.

"Cadillac guy?" Piper asked confusedly.

"Well, I manged to stop him from being run over, but apparently the constant warnings about him dying didn't really help my job review because I got fired. He didn't even leave me a tip!" Phoebe complained.

"Wait a minute, you an actual psychic got fired from her job as a lounge psychic?" You asked as Phoebe blushed in embarrassment. "More to the point you said you were constantly heckling him about dying?" You asked as Phoebe looked at you and after a moment nodded.

"Phoebe, was he trying to running away from you when he was almost hit?" You asked, you noticed this the first time you watched the episode.

"Maybe why, I saw he was going to die, was I just supposed to let him?" Phoebe asked incredulously.

"Well no, but I'm wondering if you may have had a self-fulfilling prophecy?" You said, the girls echoing you.

"Yeah, it like in this book I read one time about a king who gets told by a witch that his son will grow up to kill him, so to stop this from happening, he throws his only son into the ocean. But the boy gets rescued by a passing fisherman and grows up hating father for trying to kill him, so one night he sneaks into the King's bedchamber and kills him, fulfilling the prophecy. Or put more simply, by trying to avoid the prophecy, the King caused it to happen." You said and Phoebe nodded slowly, trying to understand what you were telling her.

"But if the prophecy had been made, then it didn't matter what the King did, his son would still try to kill him." Phoebe pointed out.

"That's the thing, it's all interpretation. Like you said, it didn't matter what the King did, he was still going to die. The author wrote the same story twice, but with a different idea the second time. The King realized this, and decided to love and nurture his son all his life, never telling about the prophecy, and when the King got old, he became very ill with a fever, the King was in such pain that his son sat with him one night and slipped him a sleeping poison to end his suffering, going on to become the next King all the same. That's the point, he still ended up murdering his father, but in one story he did it out of anger and the other he did it out of kindness and love." You said, finishing your own short story as two of the three sisters listened with rapt attention.

"I think I get what you're saying, but what was I supposed to do ?" Phoebe asked.

"I can't tell you that, since I can't see your visions, but just think next time that you may be what causes the vision, not what fixes it." You warned as you got home, walking up the path to the front door.

"So Prue, after seeing how Mark wished he'd celebrated his birthday, do you still feel like you don't want a party?" Piper asked, a solemn look on her face.

"You know, I think I may be fine with one, just this once." Prue answered as she walked through the door.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone shouted, popping out of wherever to surprise Prue.

"Did I get you, I got you." Piper's smug look brought a smile to all your faces after the funeral and ride over.

The party had finished up an hour or so ago, and you were helping to clean up before you remembered something.

"I knew I forgot something, be right back." You told the girls as you ran upstairs, coming back down moments later with a box in hand which you handed to Prue. "One last present from me." You gave a soft smile as Prue looked at it curiously before setting it down on the dining table and unwrapping it, a soft gasp coming from her as she saw what was in the box.

"What is it?" Her sisters wonder aloud as they peeked into the box.

"A camera?" Phoebe said confusedly.

"Yeah, well, Phoebe told me you used to love photography and dreamed about working for a magazine, so I figured since I've never seen you with one, I'd but you a camera." You said as Prue looked at you with wonderment.

"A camera, this isn't just a camera, how could you possibly afford this?" Prue wondered aloud, all three sister looking at you with curiosity in their eyes.

"Phoebe didn't tell you?" You asked.

"Tell them what, you never told me?" Phoebe replied as you blushed.

"Whoops, sorry, I guess it slipped my mind. I don't know if you've noticed, but I usually stay the night here." You began as Phoebe two sisters deadpan nodded.

"Well, I figured since I spent so much time with you girls, that I should just rent out my house, I'm a landlord, well technically a renter, I think, but regardless, I rent out my house to someone, recently I even bought a second house thanks to a little magic." You revealed, as both Prue and Piper looked at Phoebe.

"What did I do?" Phoebe asked.

"Oh, nothing really, it's just the shapechanger people that lived across the street had some magical spells cast on their home, I suppose so people wouldn't try to but the place before they did, but since they 'vanished' no one removed said spells, so I got the property for cheap as well, and then got Phoebe to cast a spell removing the spells they cast on the house, that's why I thought I told you about everything." You said.

"Oh, well that's strange, do you even know how to rent out a house to someone?" Prue asked.

"Well, not really, not I figure they'll take care of the place and if anything breaks, I can fix it with the skills I do have." You said with a warped smile.

"Well, enough about Leo, let's take a picture!" Phoebe said excitedly, looking pleadingly at Prue, who sighed before agreeing to 'just one'.

As Prue set her new camera on the table, using the built in timer, you watched the three sisters crowd together, all three smiling in happiness, you knew you would keep on protecting those smiles.
