Chapter 49 by Ben Rosewood Ben Rosewood

Anyway, I can deal with my love life tomorrow...

And my fantasy life too

The next morning, I find Sila sitting at the table eating breakfast and drinking coffee.

"Morning Sila." I say.

"Oh hey Roxy."

"How's it going?" I ask as I prepare my own meal.

"Good. Elliot sent me the pre-made character sheets."

"Oh..." My morning brain takes a second to catch on. "Oh, for tomorrow?"

"Yeah. I can help you out with it in the morning if you like."

"Uhh, you busy today?"

"I've got work, and I wanna spend time with Elliot if possible."

"Hey, fine by me."

We proceed with our morning before going our separate ways. Out the back of Love+, I find Charlie smoking a cigarette as he awaits me and the latest gossip.

"How's it going dear?" He asks.

"Good, yeah."

"And how's Sila?"

"She got a boyfriend yesterday."

"Oh." Charlie shoots me a surprised look as if he'd met Sila and knew how introverted she is (or was). "Your little butterfly is growing wings."

"She sure is."

"You met him?"

"No, but he's coming over tomorrow. We're gonna plane Dungeons and Dragons or something."

"Well you seem to be in your element in a dungeon."

I give him a smirk. "So I just have to worry about the dragons."

With nothing more to say, we open up for business and proceed to serve our valued customers until well into the afternoon. With my shift over, I figure it's time to figure what kind of character I'm gonna play. Scrolling through the selection, I see options such as Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Bard!? The fuck is a bard going to do? Sing them to ****?

No, apparently Bards get rapiers, magic, and discounts at taverns. Sounds good to me. Plus, I'm sure others are gonna play brooding swordsmen and spellcasters and the such. With that in mind, I shoot Sila a text.

'hey you can tell your bf that I'm gonna go with the bard. Unless someone else took it.'

'LOL I knew you'd go bard'

'really?'

'well you like music and its an odd choice at face value'

'True. Well I won't keep u from your date anyway c u soon'

With some free time on hand, I decide to do a sketch of my character. Fantasy art isn't really my realm of expertise, but I still do my best to bring Chanteuse the half-elf bard to life. Everything from her flow of long hair, only tamed by a braided ponytail, to the lute in her hands, and of course, a devious little smirk that hints at the misadventure she'll get into.

All that's left to do is wait for tomorrow to find out exactly what misadventures they are.
