Setting things straight

A few minutes later, and Sila comes through the doorway with a welcome spring in her step.

"Hey." I say.

She smiles at me. "Hey Roxy."

"So, you wanna talk?"

"I guess."

"Well, what's on your mind?"

"I dunno."

"So the date went well?"

"Yeah. I mean we just walked through the park and had tacos, but I dunno... I didn't have much of a plan."

"Just living in the moment?"

"Yeah I kinda just- I mean he just walked up to me and I said it."

"Well, I'm happy for you."

"Thanks Roxy... For everything." Sila begins to sniffle. "I don't think I would've done this without you."

I move in to hug her as she bursts into tears. As I pat her back, I say "I'm so proud of you Sila. You've grown so much in these last few days."

When she starts to calm down, I take her over to the couch. There, she takes a deep breath.

"So you gonna hang out with Elliot tomorrow?"

"Probably." There's a moment of silence where Sila's eyes drift to the floor before she meekly asks "So what does this make of us?"

"Elliot's your focus now. Just leave it at that. I can take care of myself." Well, myself and the numerous people on Tinder.

"Yeah, okay."

"Anything else?"

"Yeah uh... Do you think he'll be okay with me being into girls?"

"You've only just had your first kiss with him, right?"

"Yeah."

"Then I think you should save that conversation for down the road. I mean I think communication is important, but you're still getting to know each other, and hell, you're still finding yourself."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, maybe you'll like boys more than girls. Maybe Elliot's an absolute dynamo in the sack-"

Sila starts to chuckle. "Roxy."

"You never know."

"I mean... I guess."

"Anyway, all I'm saying is that you should take things slow."

"Right."

"And if you need anything, just ask, okay?"

"Okay. Thanks Roxy."

"No problem."

After I finally eat some dinner, we proceed to hang the rest of the night relaxing. It felt kinda odd going from having sex with Sila, to suddenly not, but I know that's what she needs right now. Asking Elliot out was a huge step for someone who seems to be constantly on the edge, and hell, I had a hand in giving her that confidence, which at the end of the day is pretty awesome.
