Zack asleep, looking totally fucked out

"I don't know," Chloe said to Gavin. "Zack was looking forward to this trip. We all were, well, me because you and Zack were along. I mean, because I'm not close to anyone else, really."

Gavin and Chloe padded up the path from the lake to the cabin, the backs of their flip-flops slapping against their heels. With Gavin's longer legs, Chloe had to hold a faster pace to keep up. It was no problem for a soccer team member, while Gavin wasn't particularly athletic.

"Yeah," Gavin said. "Some of the girls here, they could cut you with your tongue without even trying."

Chloe laughed. "Exactly," she said. "I'm counting on you and Zack to throw yourselves between me and those wicked tongues."

Gavin blinked and gave her a crooked smile.

"What did I say...oh." Chloe giggled.

Gavin laughed back. "Yeah, dip me in honey and throw me, like." he said, then added, "Well, Taylor is here too, she's all right. She likes you, even."

"Kinda glued to Hannah at the hip, though," Chloe said. "They say they're not girlfriends, but they look like it to me. Same look in their eyes as the two gals in soccer who are totally girlfriends, just not out all the way." She took a breath. "So what do you think is keeping everyone?"

Gavin shrugged. "Dunno, maybe they're glued to a disaster report on the radio? Or Heather's dad came and he's talking to them all, or having them move furniture or something? What do you think?"

"You know that myth about the Judgment of Paris? I bet they've roped in Zack to judge which one is prettiest," Chloe said.

"Oh yeah," Gavin said. "You think, Hannah as Venus, Taylor as Minerva, Heather as Juno?"

"More like Discordia than Juno, I think," Chloe said.

"Well, she was the one that threw the apple..." Gavin said.

They walked up the steps. Chloe opened the door into the cabin.

"Zack? Hannah?" Chloe called.

No answer. Chloe frowned.

"They've got to be somewhere," Gavin said. He stepped forward past Chloe, and they walked together through the shared spaces of the cabin.

No sign of life in the entry hall, the kitchen, the living room, the deck. The door to the room Gavin and Chloe were sharing with Zack was open by a palm's breadth.

"Zack?" Gavin said as he pushed the door open.

"Oh, fuck," Chloe said.

Zack lay on his side, naked across his bed, his penis exposed, lying long and limp in the warm room. His chest moved slowly in and out as he slept off something epic. The sheets were rumpled and untucked. There were a couple of obvious wet spots on the sheet.

Chloe's nose wrinkled. The sweet heaviness of boy juice mingled with a definite trace of girl juice.

"You put a sheet on top of him, Gavin," Chloe said. "I'll open the windows to air it out. And he needs to run a wash load when he wakes up. Or I'm gonna switch with Kurt."

Gavin nodded. "Looks like he had a good time anyway," he said. He pulled his lips into a thin flat line, trying his best to personify the :| emoticon.

"He was supposed to come back and tell us what was keeping the other girls," Chloe said.

Gavin and Chloe did their minimal tidy-up and retreated to the kitchen to get a couple of cans of soda.

Chloe frowned. "So which girl?" she said.

"Heather jumped him," Gavin said. "She takes what she wants, and this is her home turf. I don't think he would resist."

"Really? I'm sure it must be Hannah," Chloe said. "Zack's had a thing for her like forever, and this would be the perfect time for them to make a move on each other. But yeah, Hannah probably asked first. Anyway I should go knock on the door to the lake room. All lost in girl talk or something. Give me a sec."

"'Kay," Gavin said. He sipped at his soda.

Chloe knocked on the door to the lake room that Heather was sharing with Hannah and Taylor. "Hey, what's keeping you? Ashley was getting worried," she said to the closed door.
