What's next?
Evening with The Askrens.
When they got home, Amy went to play outside. She was still so animated about the prospect of her Dad getting her a horse and wanted to see where he was going to build the barn. It had only been an idea of Spencer’s but the pure excitement Amy had about it, Spencer knew he would make it a reality. Inside the house, Spencer used his considerable cooking talents to fill the oven with a tray of fish sticks and chips. No one would ever accuse Spencer of being a gourmet. While they baked Spencer went back outside to check on Amy.
He found her with her catcher’s mitt throwing a baseball up in the air and running to catch it. Spencer joined Amy helping her to practise. They spent the time it took their dinner to be ready with Spencer lobbing highballs for Amy to practise getting under to take. The grass outside the farmhouse was too long to get in any ground practice. Spencer thought to himself he should get someone out and give the entire place a cut.
After dinner Spencer had Amy get started on her homework while he went to his home office and checked his computer. He’d received an email from his old partner commending him on the work he’d done for them just recently and also a request for Spencer to come and see him face to face in D.C. It was a strange request as everyone knew at his old firm that Spencer only ever worked remotely and wasn’t interested in visiting the Capital again. Spencer sent an email back repeating this. The email framed nicer than he felt about it.
Other than the usual business emails sounding Spencer out on little bits and pieces of work, all of which could all wait, the only other one that took Spencer’s interest was an Email from Danielle at the bank letting him know that everything had gone through just as he asked. Seeing her name got Spencer thinking on Danielle and what she had said once again.
Over at Danielle’s house, she too had Spencer on her mind. She’d spent much of the rest of the day in a heated mood. Spencer’s touch kick-starting her libido running in ways it hadn’t since her ex. Her phone in hand she’d typed out a message to Spencer’s cell and lay on her bed looking at it.
“Still want me to help you? I could come over tonight. No strings attached…”
It was the no strings attached part that prevented her from sending it. Danielle knew it was an out and out booty call message which she’d be happy to give Spencer, no doubt. Just with a guy like Spencer she’d like there to be strings attached and the possibility of something more.
Danielle deleted the message unsent and put the phone down, picking up her vibrator instead.
Later that evening Amy came and joined her father on the sofa as he watched some TV. Spencer had been quietly sipping a craft beer as he watched a show on house flipping. Amy came and cuddled up to him. Spencer lifting his arm so that Amy could get comfortable.
“So, have you worked out what you want to call your horse when you get him?” he asked.
“You better be serious Dad and not just pulling my leg!” Amy told him sternly.
“I am. I’ll start looking into the barn tomorrow. I’m going to be out of town for the day Thursday just so you know too,” Spencer told Amy letting her know about his planned day with Darcie just not the details.
“Ok, well maybe Chestnut if she’s brown or Shadow if she’s black,” Amy began as she listed off all the names she could come up.
The next morning at the school Amy reminded Spencer about his promise of a horse of her own. He told her he would call in at the local building company as the very next thing he did. He waited beside his car as Amy heading off into the buildings of Carter Junior High. Besides his daughter, Spencer's eye caught sight of the school Spanish teacher Miss Lynn. Like the rest of the Fathers’, Spencer couldn’t help but admire the beautiful teacher. Probably about ten years younger than Spencer, she had a body that the rest of the school mom would die for. Lean and fit, her brunette hair was straight and came to just past her shoulder. She was smiling as she welcomed the children to the school this morning. If only Amy had taken Spanish this semester as one of her classes he might have reason to talk to her. Next semester perhaps...
“You’re as bad as the other Dads Spencer.” A voice came from behind him.
Turning Spencer smiled as he saw Darcie pull up next to him. She had the window down and was smiling at catching him gawking.
“I was just watching Amy go in,” Spencer said at getting caught in the act.
“Bullshit Spence. We both know you were checking out Cindy Lynn,” Darcie called him on it. She wasn’t in the least bit angry and liked teasing Spencer.
Walking over Spencer came and leant down on Darcie’s open window. “Just a drop and run today. Not going to get out of the car?” Spencer asked her, having an idea of why she might not want to get out after yesterday.
“Fuck you, Spencer. I can bare move my legs today,” Darcie snorted confirming his suspicions.
Before they had a chance to talk too much further a car horn came from behind Darcie as she had been blocking traffic.
“See you tomorrow Spence,” Darcie said as she went to drive off.
Spencer was actually pretty amazed that Darcie didn’t pull a finger sign at being tooted. “See you tomorrow Darcie,” he echoed as he tapped the roof of her car as she drove off. Spencer waved at Karen, Savannah’s Mom, as she drove behind up behind Darcie having got stuck while waiting for them to talk.
At the building company.
