"Ok, so... that's it. Were you even Down here at ALL? When did it... no wait, let me think... had to be when you and Charlotte went out for Groceries that first time... Or when I was with Helen and wasn't paying attention... so... Carla... did you actually MEAN anything you said to me? I remember that Kaila told me she loved me a LOT over this week..." I felt myself getting angrier. Had any of this actually meant anything to her?

"What did you go do while I was busy with Helen? Was SHE in on it too?" Kaila and Carla both fell silent, their eyes wide and searching. Yeah, they knew they had been caught. I trusted Kaila on some things, but this... this was getting ridiculous as far as twin games. "Was she running interference while... You know something... a guy said something to me earlier this week. Didn't think much of it. Thought he was lying."

"I'm just wondering, Honey. I'm willing to believe that YOU didn't fuck a guy in a blue Honda. Did she?" I pointed at Carla with an accusatory finger. "Or rather, did YOU," I pointed the finger back at Kaila intently, "While you were pretending to be her? Because you sure as heck didn't seem to think anything of being with somebody else while we were trying to have a kid!" I snarled. "Charlotte... she... just... swooped in, and next thing I know you're just... running around with the girls, not even thinking about the fact we came down here to..."

I stopped, realizing I had begun ranting. I was mad. Very mad. Both of the women sitting with me had seen me this upset before and were saying nothing, just letting me burn out the anger. Letting it wash out. The hot flush in my throat seemed to be lessening, and the cool breeze off the ocean reminded me of where I was. Who I was with... and the truth... that I was afraid of losing what I had.

"Brent... Ok, this wasn't how I wanted to tell you this, but I'm pregnant." Kaila said softly. "I uhm..." Kaila pulled a small plastic test from one of her pockets. She slid the item across the metal table, and my eyes took in the two blue lines. "Yeah... I've... I wanted to tell you so much, but... I have an appointment after we get back for an ultrasound. You know. Just to make sure. I know just telling you the truth won't make you believe me. If you really think I cheated on you... I mean REALLY cheated on you... Then I won't be able to change your mind. I know that. So... you know. You believe what you want. I know what the truth is."

"I... found out right after I suggested we come down here... So, I think it was the Listerine Breath night." Kaila smiled softly. "When... that asshole put his hands on me, I just... I had to... You're so important to me, and the thought of you finding out and... thinking that I'd WANTED that Jabba the Hutt wanna bee to... Ugh..."

"You know I saw the whole thing. We look out for each other at those things." Carla nodded, her eyes on mine. "I mean, I know that doesn't count for much after... well, you apparently saw things a whole lot different than the two of us did."

"Saw it DIFFERENT?" I blurted. "Come on, Carla, you've been... I still... So, you're telling me I've slept with you."

"Yeah," She smiled, her eyes dropping to the table and her coffee. "Yeah, a uhm... a few times. And... uh, we were going to tell..."

"Oh no, don't you dare tell me that you're off the pill," I broke in.

"I thought you'd be happy, Brent." Kaila argued.

"If you'd TOLD me," I argued again. "Kaila, when... I fucking have to be able to trust you, but... if you don't tell me things, you're not showing that you trust ME!"

"I fucking showed you I trust you all fucking week!" Kaila growled back, the anger rising in her voice. Oh shit, here we go...

"Oh, really, well this I have to hear. No Carla, you don't get to back her up on this one... I gotta hear this, and it better be fucking GOOD." I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair.
