Chapter 138 by brevdravis brevdravis

A GOOD explanation.

From a certain point of view

"Ok, Brent," Kaila paused for a moment. Her eyes closed and she breathed deeply, her hands spread on the table. "I... I don't know where this is coming from at all. I told you... I Love you."

Her eyes searched my face again.

"I told you. I love Charlotte. I haven't... Ok, we were playing twin games a bit." She sighed. "You usually like them. I mean, you don't say it, but it really is every guy's fantasy, right?"

"You SPECIFICALLY told me not to ask for it, so..." I began. "Look, sorry, I'm interrupting. I'm still... I'm still mad."

"No... I... yeah, just let me get this out." Kaila nodded. "So, I left with Charlotte, and I wasn't going to tell her, but she wanted to know why we were going to an Inn. She thought I was cheating on you too."

I suddenly felt a little better about Charlotte. Yes, she'd been a completely shameless with her behavior, but she'd always been extremely open about her passes at my... well, my wife and her sister. I'd never felt like she had anything other than obvious intentions.

"Well, she was going to tell you. Was actually kinda pissed about it. And so the only thing I could do was tell her. She met Carla, and then..." Kaila sighed. "Well, they hit it off instantly. Carla's always liked girls better anyway."

"So...we convinced Charlotte that, or... I don't know maybe she convinced us... the point is that we... we bet Kaila couldn't... we bet you couldn't tell us apart. Even in bed." Carla broke in for a moment. "We both were in on this, so... we both probably owe you an apology, Brent."

"Wait... you made a..."

"Yeah, dammit... we made a bet. It was stupid, I know. It seemed like a good Idea at the time. I mean, thinking about it now, and... I mean, I thought you'd be fine with..." Kaila shook her head, a blush coming over her features.

"What was the bet?" I asked, trying not to get angrier. For a moment, I felt... wait, was this why... out of the blue, Charlotte had stormed out of the van... in the middle of a rainstorm, naked...

"We bet Charlotte a..." Carla sighed. "I can't believe that actually..."

"Same bet I made you the next day, Brent." Kaila nodded. "And I lost."

"So you both..." I realized.

"Yeah, when... when we went to go look at the stars. Well, we never made it to the beach. Just the room at the Tickle Pink Inn. And it was... amazing. Almost all night." Carla nodded. "It's why we never filled up the tank. "

"Wait WHAT? You've GOT to be kidding me with that name." I gasped out. "And you lost? What would you get if you two had won?"

"Hell no, Brent. It's... well, it's a LOT better than the Cabin. I'm sorry, I just can't rough it like you. I NEED a break. I need room service occasionally. So, I wanted to... Charlotte said she'd... I figured if you got a threesome..." Kaila ran her hand across her face. "I figured you wouldn't be mad when I told you." She shrugged her shoulders again, defeated.

"What was the bet, Kaila?" I asked again, noting that she had dodged the question.

"It doesn't really matter, does it? It didn't happen."

"It matters to me," I said sternly. "We... I went through hell because of a stupid bet that I should have known better than to take. So, you don't get to pretend that it didn't happen, just because you..."

"If I'd Won, Charlotte promised to increase My chances!" Kaila nearly shouted. "Fuck... OK... it was stupid, Okay? She promised that she'd... that she'd have your baby for me... at least try. She promised she'd talk to Helen about it. I fucking poured my heart out to her in that room... She knew how... how nervous I was about this time. Especially after that thing with your dad. I love her, Brent. And you said you're Okay with that. If you really are okay with that... you'll understand."

"Well, I... was she the only one?" I asked. This wasn't easy to take. After a couple years of marriage, my wife had thought... that I was just like everybody else.

"What? Where did you... Are you STILL on about that... Brent, I didn't even SEE the guy. I don't even know what he looks like. Come on, was he my type? You know my type."

"Uhm, No I believe you like them without piercings." I nodded. "I mean, he wasn't bad looking, but..."

"He had piercings?" Carla groaned, "Ugh, No thank you. Last thing I need is to try to disentangle one of my students from their instrument with wire cutters. It has happened. Now if I was going to sleep with somebody else... that girl at the front desk was cute."

"Wire cutters?" I asked, incredulously.

"Freshman. Had a big old snakebite piercing with a loop on it. Hooked right onto one of the valves. Kid was sobbing for at least half an hour after I cut the thing off." Carla pointed out. "So, no thank you to the piercings. I see them, I think infections."

I nodded. It... made sense. Wait, so... Carla and Kaila had...

"But, so when it was you and Charlotte..." I pointed to Carla.

"Yeah, I might... I might have ignored you a bit. " Carla nodded, "I hadn't... It had been a while since I got laid, Brent. Listening to you two every night is... frustrating. And Charlotte... I really didn't think you'd go for it. You've been living with ME for two years almost and you've never... Well, the next Morning when Charlotte suggested I get with Helen too and then we DID. I was in heaven."

"I'm... still a little mad." I began. I took another breath, my eyes on my wife and her sister. I breathed. Kaila did love me, and she'd shown me that. They just... hadn't told me in words. "I... feel... " I tried to think about the words I needed to say. Running through the couples classes... ACK... nothing really covered this scenario.

Can I salvage this?
