What's next?
Janette's House
"Woooooow! This whole place is yours! It's mega humongous, Jay-Jay!"
"Who did you murder for this?"
"Easy girls, easy. Let's just... uhh well, lead the way Janette."
She nodded and swung the bag over her shoulder before taking a step forward. "Lets go."
It was indeed an impressive looking house, built from stone rather than wood to provide extra support and protection from strong weather. The building provided two floors as was apparent from the outside windows above the front double doors, with several nice pillars for both decoration and substructure. Once they all entered through, KuliKuli's eyes grew twice their size. Beautiful looking curtains, a few paintings containing pretty looking scenery inside, even the floor was a shiny coat of marble. Running on four legs, she scurried around to discover a kitchen three times the size of Felix's, a large round table at the dining room with napkins and plates already in place, and a quick glimpse to the opposite window showed a private backyard fenced in containing a garden and a pool!
"Wow! This is... Jay-Jay, can I be your mate instead?"
Felix threw her a puzzled look to which the Nekomata giggled and placed both paws to cup her mouth. "Just teasing you love, you know you're the only one for me." As he shrugged and continued walking, Kuli flashed a quick wink to Janette. She rolled her eyes but smiled nonetheless.
"My little shop downtown wasn't built from charity, my parents made a lot of good money on their own. Travelers who got lucky and were given a job thst provided shelter, temporary shelter but it was shelter no less. They took care of a farm."
"Hey! Sort of like what you do, Master!"
"Da-haha, yea I guess so." Felix agreed, rubbing his head. "How long did it take for them to get rich?"
"Well, not from one farm I can tell you." He groaned and slumped his shoulders in defeat, only for his mate to hug him from behind and giggle.
"Don't worry Master, you're still number 1 for me."
"Heh, thanks KuliKuli." She nuzzled his neck with a cute smile in response as Janette continued.
"Anyways, they worked hard and made sure the crops grew up to a healthy level and kept the house clean and fed themselves off of cattle and food provided. But, they would always stache a bit to themselves for later. Once they were done with one farm, they'd go to the market and sell the bits they collected before moving on to another farm, and another. As fate would have it, the last farm they worked for had the owner so impressed, he left it for them to care for till his passing. See he was old and his family weren't there, don't know why or if he even had one. But he saw my parents were hard workers and decided to give them a shot. So with their own farm, they were able to supply themselves with more than enough food for home and for selling."
"Right right, so when did the get rich scheme come into fruition, when did they make a fruit shop?" Reta interrupted.
"That was me. I had the idea, they funded it, and I paid them back. This is their house really, and they passed it on to me. Moved elsewhere, started traveling and we stay in touch with letters. But yea, Fruits of Labor seemed appropriate a name in honor of their hard work. They were in their thirties by the time they had me. Single child, single beneficiary." Janette beamed, stretching her arms wide open while looking at them now. She definitely carried a sense of pride in her family, how could she not? Felix knew he would to if he had one.
"That's a wonderful story. But then, why is your shop so small and your house so big?" KuliKuli asked, her tone giving the feeling that her question was more akin to a tease.
She shrugged back in submission. "Meh, don't like to advertise big. A big name gets a lot of attention."
"Makes sense." Reta agreed, looking around. "So why did we come to your house?"
"What's wrong with inviting some friends over?" She countered.
"Truthfully, we aren't what you would call friends. More like fuckbuddies. Sumimasen." With that, she dropped to all fours and scurried up the stairs before disappearing, the faint noise of a window parting open being heard.
"What's wrong with her?" She asked, to which the cat shrugged and her mate looked equally puzzled.
"We are much more than fuck buddies right? Right master?" Felix petted her hair and kept an arm to her waist, kissing her forehead.
"I say we are, but she does bring up a good point. We could get to know each other a bit more while we are here. Thoughts?" He asked. Janette smiled before reaching for her groceries.
"You two get familiar with this place, because I'm inviting you to spend the night. I'll go put these away, look for me if you need me. Oh and uh, might want to wash that tail of yours." Janette motioned over to her. Felix turned around as KuliKuli squealed silently and whipped her tail to hide behind her as she smiled to him. Unfortunately its fur was... stained, from her recent favor with Reta. Dang it.
