What's next?
First Class - Magical Studies 101
Sven sat in his seat with a stupid expression across his face, the night before was playing out over and over again in his mind and he was imagining all the dirty things he had done that his past life would have never believed was possible. Brought out of his day dreaming, the teacher of the classroom, a dog man, walked into the room hushing the students who were getting to know their seating neighbors. Ignis and Alice were on opposite sides of the room while Sven was smack bang in the middle between two shady characters.
One was an orc just like Goram, however unlike Goram he had a floaty black gown that was almost in rags, he looked like a mage but was built like a warrior. Sven couldn't put his finger on it but he wasn't getting the best vibes from this one. The other was a cat man, he'd been giving Sven cold and perhaps jealous stares the entire trip - and hadn't taken his eyes off of him since he had sat down. 'You'd have to be blind not to see this one as a threat.' Sven grumbled at his luck internally.
"Morning class, welcome to wizardry 101 - here in this room you shall be learning some of the foundational building blocks of our reality, I am your teacher Mr Woldog and while you're present in my room you will raise your hand to ask questions and remain quiet to hear the answers." The teacher looked over to a couple of whispering students who thought they had gone under his radar. His sharp stare caused them to zip it almost immediately.
"Now that my introduction is over with, who here can tell me what mana is? I know, we're starting from the very basics of magic." Sven's eyes lit up, all those years he'd spent trawling the wiki would be worth something at last! However Alice stuck her hands up lightning fast. "Ms Alice, your answer?" Came the dog persons acknowledgement.
"Mana is the life **** of a spells creation, without it the spell has no medium to be created. The bodies ability to control and gather mana is decided at birth by a persons magical affinity score, this is what determines whether or not a person can become an effective mage or if it is better for them to take a different path." The teacher clapped at her answer, a small smile on his face.
"Very well done Ms Alice! You gave a textbook answer for both mana and for the question I was going to ask next; magical affinity." Alice blushed from the praise, seeing Sven staring at her Alice gave a sly wink in reply. "Now can a student who is not Ms Alice answer this next question; What can be used to boost or alter the flow of mana?" Sven's eyes lit up again as he knew the answer, just as he was about to raise his hand the student to his right, the Orc with the flowy ragged robes stuck up his hand.
"Yes, Mr Markus." The teacher motioned for the young orc, smirking the strange figure stood up as he answered.
"Items such as armor, weapons, jewelry and even potions can be used to boost or alter the flow of mana to make its mana cost more efficient or damage output more deadly, among other things." Markus answered, the teacher clapped again.
"Very good Markus, now please remain seated while in class." Markus sat down, but not before sending a victorious smug smirk Sven's way. Sven sighed, he knew this one would be trouble.
"These answers are all very good, I can see I have a class familiar with at least some of the basics of magic, however maybe you're not so versed in the theoretical side of the subject." The man surveyed the room and couldn't find many book worm types, most classes are interested in the practical but would simply fall asleep at the theoretical. "Who here can tell me the origin of magic, the creation of mana and the cultivation of power boosting items?" The room rang silent, however Sven's eyes lit up once more, surveying the room he saw no one was attempting to answer, so he raised his hand confidently.
"Yes, Mr Gate." Sven stood up, returning the orcs smug smirk as he did so.
"The origin of magic is assumed to have begun 1040 AE upon the **** of Eir the Void. His **** would cause a reality bending shift of forces to begin causing future generations of sentient beings to be able to wield fractions of magical abilities compared to Eir, for added context the person or persons that killed Eir also killed his brother, Ain the Many, his **** corresponded with the phasing of monsters into our world. Eir and Ain were said to have been primal movers in our universe who descended from their creator thrones to govern sentient life, not much is known or confirmed about the reasons why these two were killed or who they were killed by." Sven could see the audience was practically hanging off his every word, the teacher looked especially impressed.
"The creation of mana is linked to the two brothers ****, mana did not exist as a construct of our world until Eir died, it would be like saying that a **** like gravity could suddenly be conjured up into existence over night. As for the cultivation of magical items, it is said that plans to create such items filled the heads of all sentient creatures upon Eir and Ain's **** even before their offspring were born with the ability to manipulate mana." Sven recited almost straight out of the wiki, sitting down he gave one last stinging smirk to the quietly fuming orc.
"Bravo! Finally a student who is interested in the scriptures and history books! You're a welcome addition to my class room Mr Gate, and to think the minister almost kicked you to the curb." The teacher coughed a little in embarrassment as he realized he was beginning to ramble. "Before you go to lunch, pick a book up from my desk and bring it back to your dorms to study with." Sven noticed it was the same book he had back in his room, picking one up just in case he exited the room with Ignis and Alice in tow.
"God I hate that they seated us apart from one another! How will I suck you off under the tables now!" Alice feigned her frustration, giggling as she enjoyed the reaction she got from both Sven and Ignis.
"It's not fair, I wanted to be next to master..." Ignis whined, patting her head to comfort her Sven made his way to the cafeteria. The place was huge, students of all ages and backgrounds had assembled into miniature cliques all across the hall. There was groups of warriors who were sharpening their swords in one corner, mages boiling their cups of water via spells in another, rangers making trick shots across the length of the room, it was like a chaotic high school environment where everyone was already an adult. Sven couldn't believe how strange this all felt, but just as he was coming to grips with the different groups of people, the one group almost every high school inevitably has showed up: the bullies.
His seating neighbors: the dog man and the orc both barged into him at the same time, causing Sven to stumble back ever so slightly. Pissed off, Sven shot them both a glare warning them that they best fuck off.
"Why are you hanging out with this trash, Alice? You heard the minister, his stats are no good, I bet he doesn't even have a high magical affinity score like I do!" The cat man boasted. Getting a better look at him now, Sven took in his appearance. He had a shaggy white pelt with mossy green eyes that reminded him of Elise, he was about his size but was far more lithe than Sven was.
"Knock it off SunBane, no one likes an arrogant-jealous type." Alice shot back, angry that someone from her village and a kind-of childhood friend of hers was messing with her stud.
"Arrogant I'll grant you, anyone as good as me should be arrogant - but jealous? Alice you always were a little slow, but what exactly do I have to be jealous about?" SunBane chuckled. "He's one of those rich boy types that got in through mommy and daddy's help, the minister even pulled that whole theatrical show just so the rest of us would accept him!" The cat man exclaimed, Sven was starting to get angry now, this guy was so wrong it almost physically hurt him. "He got in through money, we got in through TALENT." SunBane suddenly punched Sven in his chest, Sven was sent skidding on his heels a few meters before he came to a stop - Sven hadn't thought to anticipate being attacked because he didn't think a student would be so stupid as to strike him so publicly.
"SunBane! You've gone too far! You must know everything you're saying is bullshit because you saw how he dealt with those goblins and you saw the way he killed that forest troll!" The cat man grumbled, clearly annoyed that she would still defend him after he just knocked the wind out of of the spoiled brat. Sven had to hold back Ignis who was beginning to channel fire through her hands - a second too late and the white furred antagonist would have been grey colored ash.
"Why would you chase a human, Alice?" His face darkened as he addressed his child hood friend. "You know how their kind is, would you spit in our ancestors faces just so you can get some of our enemies dick on the side?!" Worked up and enraged by his prejudices, the cat man went to punch her - she held her arms up defensively to cover her face, but when the blow didn't arrive she opened her eyes to see Sven had caught his fist in his hand and had gripped it tight.
Beads of sweat began to appear and matte into the white pelted cats fur as he tried to pull back but found he couldn't. Up til now the orc beside him had been silent but upon seeing Sven striking back at his like minded friend, Markus reeled his fist back and went to punch Sven right in his face. However this time Sven anticipated the blow, grabbing a fist of them both in one hand each, Sven clamped down harder and harder, he could tell by the looks on eithers face that they were feeling the pressure he was exerting.
Just as the two bullies were about to start calling out in agony, Mr WolDog had rushed between the two groups to separate the conflict.
"Now now, we will be having none of this nonsense here, if I catch either of you three roughhousing outside of the arena again then there will be severe punishments." Herding the bullies away, SunBane merely made a disgusted noise when he looked at Sven, Markus however left with a parting threat.
"Better watch yourself Terran scum." The orc said under his breath with a snarl that promised more drama in the future. Sven sighed in frustration, he really wanted to return that punch right back at that stupid cats face. Sven thought he was angry, one look at Ignis made him feel like a mewling kitten, she had literal. LITERAL. plumes of fire coming out of her ears! He felt lucky that he had held her back, otherwise this 'severe punishment' the teacher promised would have turned into a prison sentence for his tempered companion.
Sitting down and after the attention from the different cliques had calmed down, Sven spoke up.
"What was their problems? And what's a Terran?" Alice looked surprised at that, however Ignis was aware that Sven wasn't born on this planet. Before Alice could air her thoughts, Ignis answered to save her master from having to explain to Alice that he wasn't from their world. The strange cat woman had just joined their group, there's no sense telling every randomer her master secret.
"They were jealous is all master, men with inferiority complexes are the worst." Ignis huffed, Alice giggled at her 'rivals' accuracy. "And the Terran Foci are a human based faction that don't allow for other races travelling across their lands." Sven was confused, didn't he find Ignis inside the deep forest? Wasn't that a human - or a Terran Foci territory? Seeing the nature of her masters confusion she cleared the misunderstanding. "I can hide my ears, so long as I dodge patrols I can usually get by without having my cover blown." Sven made an understanding noise, still he was shocked to see factions had rose up across the world, in the game version of AxioM the different races intermixed without problem, but here there seemed to be racial tensions. AxioM was a fantasy world after all, now that it had been made real of course the fantasies of a harmonious mixing pot of all races would fade away as all bad illusions do.
"Anyway I have some important news." Sven changed the subject and making sure he got both of their attentions. "The minister told me that I'm not the only hero in this guild, if what he's said is true then maybe I can finally learn why people are so scared of heroes in this world." Sven said, Ignis's eyes lit up however Alice's jaw practically dropped.
"That's why we came here in the first place isn't it master? So you could study more about your identity as a hero." Ignis smiled happily, Alice was spluttering as she ran that dialogue back once more through her head to make sure she'd really just heard that.
"You're a hero?!" She shouted just a little too loudly, Sven and Ignis were making hushing noises frantically to silence her - luckily the people that had heard her outburst mustn't have heard what it was that she actually said because they turned back to whatever they were doing soon enough. Alice's shocked face soon gave way to her slutty side as a small blush crept it's way across her cheeks.
"A big dicked stud AND a bonafide bad boy to boot, you sure do know how to twist a girls dials don't you, mister Gate?" She began to sensually rub Svens leg under the table which aroused what had been a dormant **** hiding away inside of Sven until just last night. Sven could feel a power rising up inside of him that told him to flip her over and rut her rotten but hearing the jovial surroundings around him from other clique's conversing snapped him out of his depraved thoughts. And then to top it all off, the bell rang.
"We have battle class up next, it should be in class 5A down that hall." Ignis pointed to a hall that many students were siphoning into. Well, as a fighter this was where Sven shined brightest.
