Chapter 41 by The Night
Friend or Foe?
Friend
I slowly woke up. Part of me was expecting (and kind of hoping) to be tied up in some unfamiliar location but that wasn’t the case. Instead I felt myself laying on some kind of bed. As my vision cleared and adjusted to the darkness, I realized that I was in my dorm room. How had I gotten here. My hands shot to my face to feel for my mask, which thankfully was still there. I wasn’t wearing my costume though, instead I was wearing my favorite silk rob. Who put this on me? As I got lost in my thoughts, a voice suddenly spoke. “Do not worry Heroine. All is well.” I looked around my room but couldn’t see anyone. “Who is there? Show yourself” “As you wish.” The woman I had seen before suddenly materialized from the darkness. This time I could see here a little better. Though she was wearing the same cloak as before, now I could see under it a bit. She was wearing a body suit that was so tight that it looked to have been painted on her body. And man did she have a body. She was almost as hot as Liz. The suit had highlights of dark blue and she stood only a few inchs taller than me. For some reason I felt myself aroused but at the same time intimidated. Who was this woman?
She started pacing as she addressed me. “How are you feeling. I have to imagine that tonight wasn't pleasant for you Amethyst.” I continued to stare at her as she glided around me room. “Well I can’t say it’s first time I’ve been captured but it’s first time someone has tried to kill me.” She looked at me with her eyes. There was something about the way she was looking at me that sent a chill down my spine. “Who are you?” I asked. She turned away from me, he cloak swishing around in the process. “My true name is not of any great importance to you. But you may call me Silhouette. Mistress of Shadows.” How original, I thought to myself. “I have been following you for several months Amethyst. I came to this world to hunt a great evil and in my search, I find a ordinary woman running around at night, risking her life to fight crime. Sometimes things go well, and sometimes they don’t.” I couldn’t help but blush and cover myself more with robe. I knew what she was referring too. “But tonight, I think it’s safe to say that things got out of hand.” She then approached me, placing a hand on my shoulder. “I think now would be a good time to stop Amethyst. You where nearly killed tonight and if you keep this up it will happen again. You are a kind woman. I can see that, but you are also human and I cannot guarantee that I will be around to save you a second time” I dropped my gaze. I hated to admit it, but she was right. I did nearly die tonight. How long could I keep this up? I had originally just did this to live out a fantasy but I had helped people. Sure I got captured a lot but that was just part of the territory wasn’t it? I knew I couldn’t just quit. Batgirl didn’t quit even when she was put in a wheel chair and neither will Amethyst.
I grabbed Silhouette by the wrist and pulled her hand off my shoulder. “I appreciate your concern Silhouette, but I’m not quiting. I know it’s dangerous out there but I can’t just ignore what I’ve seen. There are villains out there that the police can’t touch and someone has to pick up the slack. If I’m the only one who is willing to do it, then so be it.” I expected her to retaliate but instead her intense gaze shifted to that of joy. “I knew you where something special Heroine. This is what I was hoping you’d say.” She then lifted up her clock and reached into it’s shadow. “Your enemies are only going to get stronger, so you will have to get stronger too.” She then pulled out a purple gem stone and held it out to me. “This is from my world. It contains a great energy that while useless to my people, can be used by humans like you.” She held it out to me. “I want you to take it.” My heart was suddenly beating really fast. Was this really happening? “Wait wait, let me get this straight. You are giving me a stone….that will give me superpowers.” She looked at me questioningly. “Yes…..is that a problem?” I was in a state of shock. I had to be dreaming...or maybe I had died and had been sent to heaven. THis was just too good to be true. “I know this may be out of left field but I want you to be safe….or at least safer. Take it.” I slowly took the stone. As I made contact with it, I knew she was telling the truth. Could feel the energy surge through me. I felt stronger, my vision got clearer, I could hear better and I could smell better….it smelled good too...that has to be Silhouette. “You can feel it can’t you. Though the stone will not grant you anything flashy like my powers, it will increase you natural abilities to super human levels. Assuming you are touching it of course. As soon as it leaves your body, the power it grants you will disappear.” “I figured that would be the case. I can’t believe you are giving this to me. Certainly there is someone better than me to give this to.” She held up her hand. “I chose you because I know you won’t misuse its power.” This was insane. I HAD SUPERPOWERS!!!! She must have heard me yelling in my head because placed her index finger right in my face. “A word of caution to you though. First, while this gem will grant you great power, it comes at a cost: It leaves you vulnerable to sexual assault. The more aroused you feel, the weaker you will become, more so than you normally would be. Even worse, if you are brought to orgasm, you will lose your powers for a whole hour regardless of if you are in contact with it or not.” That seemed oddly specific. “I should also mention that the powers are not exclusive to you. If any other human gets their hands on this, they will gain the powers as well. So do not lose it.” Well that goes without saying.
The sun started to seep through the window of my dorm. I guess it was morning. I looked Silhouette who was suddenly starting to fade. “I cannot stay here. Use this power well Amethyst. I hope our paths cross again.” I smiled at her and hold out my hand for a handshake. “I hope so too. Thanks for saving me tonight Silhouette.” She took my hand and shook it. However instead of letting go, she pulled me toward her, wrapped her arms around me and pulled me close. The part of cloak covering her mouth suddenly faded away and she kissed me. I was shocked at first but quickly gave in because this felt amazing. It didn’t last long though because as the light shone through the window, she disappeared, leaving me there….alone…..Silhouette.
