A brief call.

Aaron stammered for a second, wishing that Gillian had been the one to find them. "Well, my phone is my business. I had to make a call to make. That's all."

"Pretty brief call."

"Thankfully," Aaron added a slight chuckle to the end of his statement.

Melissa turned away from him, seemingly unconvinced. Aaron glanced over to his concubine, who seemed to be oblivious to Melissa's doubt. In an attempt to calm his nerves, he sipped a glass of water, before Melissa whispered in his ear, "do you really think I'm buying it?"

With no other option, Aaron decided to throw his head back and shoot Melissa a surprised look. Much to his relief, the overreaction causes Gillian to laugh.

"What are you two up to?" Gillian said.

"Oh nothing, right Melissa?"

"Right..." Melissa sighed.

That's when the waiting staff came to relieve the two of the awkward situation. After making his order, Aaron found himself **** for them to come back with his glass of scotch and steak. Melissa didn't seem to pursue any further line of questioning, but he knew the gig was up. Then again, he had little to fear. Worst comes to worst, he loses a capable worker who can be replaced and loses the chance to show Melissa why her friend was so unfaithful.

Eventually, the rehearsal dinner came to an end. Aaron did his best to circle around the bridesmaids, pretending to text as the girls had one last chat before the big day. Once they split off, he considered his options. Melissa was a no go, and he doubted Alexa would risk being away from Daniel, no matter how much she may want to. That left Bernice and Gillian. He'd heard murmurings that Bernice liked Vinny, but Aaron still had some confidence that he might beat the boxer if he got the first blow in. Then again, Gillian was no consolation prize.
