The end of Kennedy?

"What the hell, Amy?" asked future Amy. "You can't kill Kennedy!"

"Why not?" asked Justice Demon Amy. "It says right here in this note that I'm supposed to kill her. "

"Oh, for fuck's sake," said future Amy. "I don't care what it says in your damned note. You're not killing Kennedy."

"You have **** in the matter," said Justice Demon Amy.

"But you do," said future Amy. "Besides, you can't do a thing to her unless somebody here makes a wish. And who here is going to want to do that?"

Justice Demon Angel shrugged. "You'd be surprised."

"Okay, then," said future Amy. "Then I'll make a wish. I wish that Kennedy was safe from you and any other justice demon, no matter what they choose to call themselves."

"Nice wish," said Justice Demon Amy. "But I can't grant it. You may be a different version of me but you're still a version of me. And as such, I can't grant your wishes any more than I can grant my own."

"Fine," said future Amy with a roll of her eyes. "Then I'll ask Halfrek."

"No can do, human Amy," said Halfrek. "It wouldn't be kosher for me to grant your wish while I'm here in genuine Amy's company. It would not be polite."

"Genuine Amy?" asked future Amy. "You mean you think that the self-proclaimed Vengeance Angel over there is the true Amy Madison?"

"Why wouldn't I?" asked Halfrek.

"And you care more about being polite than you do a young girl's life?" asked future Amy.

This time it was Halfrek's turn to shrug. "Kennedy's not as innocent as you might think. You have no idea what she might have done in the timeline that genuine Amy comes from. Heck, you have no idea what you might have done in that timeline. For all you know, genuine Amy is your true future self, not an alternative. You just don't know it yet."

"Enough already," said Jonathan. "I'll make the wish. I wish that Kennedy got her voice back and that she is completely protected from harm by any justice demon that might want to kill her. So there."

There was a long pause while Justice Demon Amy just stared at Jonathan and gave him a dirty look.

"Aren't you going to say 'wish granted'?" Jonathan finally asked.

"I'll say it when I'm darn good and ready," said Justice Demon Amy.
