Piece of cake

Hilda loses hand after hand to Khala, burning through all of her money at an amazingly fast pace.

Her mage friend continues to plead with her to just give up and walk away, but Hilda is far too proud for that. Instead, she doubles down on her foolishness and starts betting pieces of her armor.

She quickly loses the whole set.

"Had enough?" Khala asks, a smug grin on her face as she casually runs her hands over the helmet of *her* new set of armor.

Hilda gulps down another ale and tosses the mug aside, that's her fourth one.

She's still got her very nice clothes on (a padded shirt and britches to keep her armor from chaffing), along with her fine boots and her magic sword.

"Deal!" Hilda growls, her words starting to slur.

"What are you going to bet next?" Khala asks. She's ecstatic to have such a fleecable opponent for a change.

Hilda angrily picks up her sword, scaring Khala for a moment, until the knight slams it down on the table.

"DEAL!" She says, a bit of a whine creeping into her voice.

"Okay," Khala says, smiling ear to pointed-ear. Mira could definitely use a nice new sword.

Hilda picks up her cards, her face turning white as her barrel-clad ally gasps.

Khala is soon pulling the heavy sword towards her. "Looks like fortune REALLY doesn't favor you tonight."

Hilda doesn't take kindly to that barb. She downs yet more booze and looks Khala in the eyes.

"I want my sword back," she says, the childish need in her voice obvious for all to hear. "What do you want? Money? Land? I can get it for."

Khala contemplates Hilda's offer, but decides to turn it down. She's having way too much fun with this stuck-up noblewoman.

"I'm sure you could, but if you want it back, the only way you can get it is to win it back," Khala says as she daintily sips some wine.
