Chapter 15 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

Who does Faith-in-Joyce see?

Echo (Yes, that Echo)

"Okay, Joyce," said Faith-in-Joyce said to the mysterious woman who looked like Faith-in-Joyce used to look back when she was in her original body, "what are you doing here?"

"Joyce?" asked the woman. "Who's Joyce? My name is.... Echo, I believe."

"Echo?" asked Faith-in-Joyce.

"Echo," said the woman who called herself Echo.

"Echo?" asked Faith-in-Joyce.

"Echo," said Echo.

"Ech -- Enough already," said Faith-in-Joyce. "I get it. So you really aren't Joyce?"

"Who's Joyce?" asked Echo.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you, Miss, but is there a problem here?" asked a voice from behind Faith-in-Joyce.

Faith-in-Joyce turned around and saw a tall, handsome black man wearing a grey suit who looked like an undercover security guard.

What does he want? thought Faith-in-Joyce.

"No problems, really," said Faith-in-Joyce. "Just a slight case of mistaken identity. She looks so much like this girl I once knew."

"Oh, really?" asked the black man. "And who would that be?"

"She thinks I'm Joyce," said Echo.

"Who's Joyce?" asked the black man.

"Nobody really," said Faith-in-Joyce as she started to wonder if she had made a mistake confronting her lookalike after all.

"What's going on here?" said a brown-haired woman in a white lab coat as she quietly walked up to the black man who was standing by Echo.

The woman had a scar on her forehead and seemed to be looking very intently at Faith-in-Joyce. Almost as if she could see something different about her. But that was impossible, wasn't it?

"This lady confronted Echo and called her Joyce," said the black man, pointing to Faith-in-Joyce.

"Why would she do that?" asked the scarred woman. "This is the first time Echo's been to Sunnydale. She's not likely to know anyone here. Do you think it's one of Alpha's tricks?"

The black man shrugged. "I doubt it."

"Hmm," said the scarred woman. "Maybe you're right. But we better not take any chances."

Then she stepped behind Echo and immediately gestured for the black man to do so as well.

Once he did, the woman turned toward Echo, pointed at Faith-in-Joyce, and said, "There are three flowers in a vase. The third flower is..."

What happens next?
