Chapter 14 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

What happens next?

Who the hell cares? Let's go shopping!

"Let's see if I got everything," said Faith-in-Joyce as she checked her shopping list. "Handcuffs. Pepper spray. Stun gun. Rope. Chains. Shock collar. Cattle prod. Now what am I missing? Oh, yes. The two dolls. Preferably one bigger than the other and both female. I suppose I'll find those in the toy department."

Faith-in-Joyce was fully certain that she might not need all the items she was buying but it never hurt to be prepared. After all, while B had not proven herself to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, it was only a matter of time before she or one of her friends caught on to Faith-in-Joyce's little scheme. If so, Faith-in-Joyce wanted to have everything she needed to carry on the body swap, regardless of whether or not B wanted to cooperate.

Not that she really wished to take over B's body. Ideally, Faith-in-Joyce would be perfectly happy if she was back in her own body. But she had no idea where that body might be -- and given all the rumors she had heard about the Watchers Council -- she could not help fearing the worst. For all she knew, Joyce-in-Faith was either trapped in some secret prison cell or else lying in a ditch somewhere with a gunshot wound in the back of her head. Either way, it didn't seem likely that Faith-in-Joyce was ever likely to get her original body back again.

Nor did she wish to stay too long in her current body. True, Joyce Summers was a far healthier woman than she would have expected a woman her age to be, but she was nowhere near as healthy as a Slayer would be. And anyway, B owed her a big debt that she would probably never ever repay unless Faith-in-Joyce **** her to.

As Faith-in-Joyce searched the aisles, she could not help wondering where she would put the two dolls that she would use for the spell. Once the spell was cast, the two dolls had to be kept bound together or else the spell would unravel.

And the best place to keep those dolls to prevent that from happening? How about a safe? Or a safety deposit box? Or a locked chest thrown into the middle of the Pacific Ocean?

Of course, Faith-in-Joyce might want to keep the dolls handy in case she wanted to end the spell and transfer to another body -- but no. It was probably safer to stick with the original plan.

Speaking of which...

Was that woman walking down the toy aisle toward her really whom Faith-in-Joyce thought it was? No, she thought. It couldn't be.

Who does Faith-in-Joyce see?
