Buffy, interrupted

"Okay," said Kennedy. "What does that mean?"

"It means I've had enough," said Buffy. "I mean the blue glowing thing in the air was pretty and seeing you guys all talk to each other was rather entertaining but I'm ready for you all to go away now. My first day at Sunnydale High hasn't even started yet and I'm already seeing visions. I was hoping I wouldn't need the pills anymore but apparently I do. So go away now! Please!"

"What is she talking about, Amy?" asked Kennedy.

"You know what she's talking about, Witch's Girlfriend," said Spike. "She thinks we're hallucinations."

"You mean she thinks you and Drusilla are hallucinations?" asked Kennedy.

"No, she thinks all four of us are hallucinations," said Spike. "Can't you tell?"

"I'm not a hallucination," said Kennedy. "At least I think I'm not. I do feel pretty real for someone who is supposedly a figment of someone else's imagination."

Spike just laughed. "It doesn't really matter what you think, Witch's Girlfriend. The girl just got out of a mental hospital -- you both made it quite obvious that you know that. So what did you expect her to think when she first saw you two coming out of that hole in the air? She's probably secretly scared as hell of having to go back -- and if that means denying the evidence of her own senses... Well, who can blame her?"

"Well, I'll just show her that I'm real," said Kennedy.

And with that, she walked over to where Buffy was sitting without even bothering to get dressed.

"Wait!" exclaimed Amy. "Don't do this, Kennedy!"

"I have to do this," said Kennedy. "I have to fix this. I just know I can fix this. All I have to do is touch her on the arm and prove that I'm real."

And yet when Kennedy walked up to Buffy to do just that, Buffy looked up at her with a weird expression on her face -- and then reached for something in her jacket pocket.

Before Kennedy knew it, there was a pointed stake in Buffy's hands being aimed at her bare chest.

"I don't know if you're a hallucination or not," said Buffy. "But if you try to lay one finger on me, I'll be shoving this stake into your chest so fast your head will spin -- at least it will in the few seconds before you turn to dust."
