Chapter 64 by RicoLouis RicoLouis

What's next?

Just Three Words.

"Can you swim?" I smiled and touched the hull of the ship. "Ianuae magicae brevis." He tried to stop me but even he wasn't fast enough as a piece of the hull teleported from the side of the ship to right between us. His sword cleaved into the wood a second before he was knocked back by the blast of water coming through the hole filling the room. I got up and stumbled through the water and grabbed my sword prying it from my dead hand. I turned just in time to block as he came at me in a fury. The water slowed him down some as it was almost to our knees as we fought. Swords clashing. Water splashing about. I couldn't make a run for it without taking a sword to the back. I rolled on top of one of the stacks gold onto my feet and ran across the top and jumped to another. My wet boots giving out as I landed on top of the gold. I swung at the lantern knocking it into the water as the room went dark.

"Feles oculus noctis." I said casting night vision. I could see some but the sheer darkness of the room made it hard to see. I saw his eyes glowing and heard him coming at me as our swords clashed. Sparks from metal hitting metal providing a brief second of dim light in. He managed to knock my sword aside out of my hand and almost cut me into on the back swing as I fell back into the water. I came up quickly trying to retreat. I couldn't call it back to me in the dark without risk killing myself. The ship tip slightly as gold bars began to fall off into the water.

"Oblito lux mico." I said as I threw up my arm as he came at me. He screamed shielding his eyes from the blinding light. Him using night vision probably made it feel as if looking directly into the sun. He wasn't completely immune to magic it seemed. Sadly I couldn't send a lightening bolt with all of the water and any fire spell would be pointless. I grabbed one of the heavy blocks of gold and held out my hand. "Tantum funda iecit." The heavy bar went flying hitting him and sending him into the water. "Flexilibus figura terrae" I said aiming at the stack of gold causing some of it to fall on top of him. The ship pitched more. The water was at my waist. I had to get out of here fast.

I managed to get onto the second deck which served as the galley and crew quarters. The only people I saw where dead thankfully and I could see again. I looked at the dagger wound in my side and saw thankfully the wound had turned to wood. I pulled it out and held it out encase someone had been smart enough to not drink the wine. The ship pitched more onto its side making me bang into a wall. I looked up to see the large table the crew at at come sliding toward me I jumped a second before it could pin me against the wall and rolled over top of it. I moved toward the stairs but stopped as a lantern fell off a post and started a fire in front of me. I ran and jumped over it landing on the steps. Thankful my clothes were to wet to catch fire. I slid my dagger into my belt and slid slightly to the side and jumped into the cold dark water.

I came up looking around and saw part of the boat was on fire providing a little light as it sank. I saw boats coming and swam for the shore line to get as far away as possible. When I reached the muddy shore I crawled until I reached solid ground and rolled over onto my back breathing heavily.

"Don't just lay there." A voice said. I turned to see Shadow. "We need to move now." She added helping me onto my feet.

"What are you doing here?" I asked softly as we slipped into the forest.

"Saving you. Your friends are waiting in a wagon." She said. I knew that part already.

"I thought you where handling the mirrors." I shook my head.

"Seems you didn't get the whole plan." Shadow replied.

"Not surprising given Raven." I replied. I should have known she was up to something. Least it didn't involve me this time. We came out of the tree line and I saw Willow.

"Oh my, what the fuck happened." She ran over looking at my arm.

"I ran into our old friend on board the ship."

"Is he dead?" Sura asked as she helped me as well.

"I don't know, hopefully he is at the bottom of the lake buried in gold." I replied though he could be just fine for all I knew.

"Head to the farm and wait for Raven." Shadow said to Willow.

"Okay." Willow nodded. I laid down in the wagon and we road off into the night. I don't remember much else after that as I passed out from exhaustion and blood lost.
