Investigation Time

I walked out of the classroom ready to find out what this fluid Professor Moody was carrying was. I just had to find a good place to do it at. Which only meant one thing for me. It was off to the Wizards Chess Club. Nobody would be there. I just had to get my team together first.

"Michae-."

I felt a strong grip on my neck, and a quick shove that had me crash against the wall. The wind was knocked out of me.

"Idius Halfhwit," said Hermione, "how was your summer. So nice to see you." The witch had a nice smile on her face, but I could see anger hidden beneath her smooth lips.

"The second H isn't silent," I said by habit. She paid little attention as she put her hand on my shoulder. I would have never thought I was afraid of Hermione, but here I was fully pressing against a wall from her contact.

"I know you may have seen me in a compromising position yesterday," said Hermione. Was she going to kill me now, or beat my ass? I thought we were on okay terms.

"But that will not stop me from turning you in to Professor Flitwick if you are starting trouble." Starting trouble? I was confused.

"What are you talking about," I asked genuinely confused, "I..I haven't even started my schemes I had planned yet. And...And why am I on your radar?" Weren't these guys usually stopping the plans of Voldemort.

"I saw you steal from professor Moody," said Hermione, "using your friends to distract him. It's shameful." Oh, that made more sense. But she must have been really sharp to figure that out.

Suddenly Hermione's grip on my shoulder loosened. And Padma and Michael emerged behind beside us both. I could see the immediate confusion on their faces. Hermione began to pat my shoulder, pretending to wipe away a smudge.

"Hermione Granger," said Michael?

"And Idius," finished Padma, "are you two friends?" Hermione began to laugh, trying her best to normalize what was going on. Padma eyed Hermione's hand on my shoulder. I could answer this question however I wanted.
