A small group of adventurers

Before you stands three humanoid creature, in fancier gear than any villager here could afford. In front, the only male, pointed his shining two handed sword at you, stating something about defending the town. You weren’t sure exactly what he said, as you only had enough grasp of common to make simple demands. The male wasn’t very large, but wore looped chains of metal as his clothing as protection. The two behind him were females, one in leather with bright green hair, long ears, and aiming a bow and arrow at you. The other was very young, wearing all white robes, and carrying a long wooden staff with a metaic symbol at the end.

You sigh, scratching your ass as you take in the unimpressive group before you. So the villagers hired this lot to drive you out, though after your appeasement they either couldn’t afford the best, or no one but this group was willing to travel so far. Well no need to wait anyway.
