Once the city was behind us and out of view, I turned to Selene and said, "You're welcome to turn back into your true form whenever you want" In fact, she did so almost immediately and let out a big sigh as she spreads her wings wide behind her. Her sister stared at her, her mouth gaped open and asked me "You... you just let her assume that form? You understand that we are DEMONS, correct?"
In stead of answering, I watched as Selene slowly walked over to her sister and whispered in her ear, "You have a lot to learn about our master. He is like no one you have ever met or will meet again. He truly cares more for us than he does other humans. I even shared my real name with him, but continues to use the name I gave him when we first met. Speaking of that, what are we going to call you, sister."
I interrupted, "Well she sure does have a smoldering personality, how about Scarlett?" Both sisters were quiet for a breath before starting to giggle approvingly, letting me know the name had been accepted. Turning to Scarlett I said, "You're welcome to stay in human form, but I imagine you're going to have a hard time keeping up." With that I sprinted away, with Selene taking to the sky at the same time and circling overhead. After a moment, I heard Scarlett give an excited cry, followed by the familiar sound of unfolding wings and Scarlett shot into the sky, flying with her sister for the first time in a long time.
For a while, I ran. Simply enjoying the freedom of the open and unconquered world. Only stopping when I found a small clearing that could serve as a good spot to set up camp for the night. Selene dropped down next to me almost immediately after I had stopped, and tried to ask what was going on; but I dismissed her curiosity. "Enjoy some time with your sister, I'm going to sit down for a bit." She offered no complaint and shot into the sky to join her sister once more. The sound of their laughter echoed around me and I honestly couldn't help but smile, then froze in shock as it dawned on me that here, with the two of them, I was happy. I had been getting lost again and again in my thoughts of how I could **** countless people and not feel anything, and yet these Demon Sisters are what made me feel again. By the time I surfaced out of my confusing thoughts I notice that the sky was clearly darker, so I gave a shrill whistle at the two sisters; telling them that it was time to come down.
I built a small fire so we could see, and the three of us huddle around it for warmth. Before I knew it, Scarlett had wrapped herself in her wings and fallen fast asleep. I turn to Selene, intending to ask her a question but she interrupted me, anticipating my thoughts. "Scarlett is still young, for a succubus. While she may look the same as me she is actually a good deal younger."
I arch an eyebrow at this, "When you say 'young' you mean...?"
She choked back a laugh and responded, "I am about to be 500 years old, while she is about to turn 350."
After a pause, taking in their 'Advanced' years, I say, "I can kind of see it, honestly. She seems to be more immature then you, and you act like a protective older sister to her whenever she's around." Selene nodded and I continued, "I don't really understand it; but, watching you two flying together earlier, I actually felt happiness from something other than killing. Yet it was different, somehow."
Selene, who had been staring at Scarlett sleeping peacefully the entire time we were speaking, finally turned her attention to me and said, "Now that you know my real name, our bond is strengthened. You were feeling MY happiness."
I let out a long sigh, knowing it had been too good to be true. Actually feeling something like that after so long. Yet it somehow made more sense that it was her happiness I had been feeling and not my own. Selene looked at me and continued, "You can feel my emotions, and I'm glad for it. But that also means I can also feel yours. So, what is wrong 200?"
I sat quietly, not sure what to say. Then looked up, met her eyes, and couldn't help but smile. Humans had treated me like shit for years. Now, here a 'demon' was asking me if I was okay. I finally responded, "I know your real name. It's only fair you know mine," I extended my hand to her which she took with a smile and I said, "It's nice to meet you, Ta'lara. I'm Leo."
We sit in silence while I tried to put into words what I want to say to her. As I thought to myself, I felt Selene squeeze my hand for support; and I guess she could feel my unease. While still holding her hand I said "I honestly don't know what I am, and that's why I'm so lost. I can't explain it at all. So, please, look into all my memories and just see for yourself."
Selene lets out a small gasp and put a hand over her mouth. "I never thought any master of mine would let me see his memories." Then she chuckled while continuing, "Though, I guess you aren't like anyone normal I've ever met." Selene then leaned in and slowly kissed me on the lips; and, before I could warn her, all of my memories seemed to fly by in one moment.
She suddenly broke the kiss, now staring at me wide eyed with tears running down her face. "I'm so sorry," she breathed, "The things they put you through..." I pulled her hand to my chest and squeezed her tighter for comfort, but we both stayed silent. Selene eventually laid down and rested her head in my lap, breathing slow and deep to calm herself. I absently started to play with her hair, brushing it around her horns and enjoying the silk-like texture. For a long time we said nothing, just enjoying each other's presence and listening to the crackle of the fire. Selene finally broke the silence after I don't know how long."I know it won't mean much, but I like you as you are now. You are more like a demon than you are human. You make me feel safe." Before I could say anything, she a suddenly took on a sassy voice, saying, "Though, I did read ALL of your memories; and I really should slap you for how much you've ignored me while I've been talking to you the last few days."
I couldn't help but laugh when I heard what she said, and put my hands up in defeat; having been found out.
When I finally calmed down, I gave her hand another squeeze and said "Thank you. I think I am doing better now." Selene then sat up and gave me a soft kiss on the forehead, then laid on the ground over next to her sister, wrapping them both in her larger wings and pulling her in close.
I, meanwhile, stared into the fire. Trying to wrap my head around her words, "You are more like a demon than you are human."
