Chapter 109 by zewesman zewesman

Back to the main battle!

John the Lightbringer

The light that surrounded John burst out from him, blinding all those that were looking at him for a few seconds. In place of the beam of light was a ball of pure white that looked rather soft and fluffy. It was a ball you’d want to cuddle with and feel good about it. A single, white feather fell from the now visible wings that were around John. John unfurled his six, pure white, soft, fluffy, angelic wings that now were placed on his back. His ax replaced with a flaming sword of holy energy. John’s mere gaze caused the two angels summoned by Fran to drop to their knees and beg for forgiveness.

“Oh my!” cried Rachel.

“It can’t be!” gasped Hannah.

“He’s a seraph!” they both claimed at the same time, as they repeatedly bowed to their superior angel. John glared at them for a few more moments before he brought his fingers to his lips and whistled. It was at that time the most beautiful dragon ever appeared. Her scales were the shiniest, her wings

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” yelled Mimi, her face all puffy. “We agreed! No adding yourself to the story!” Her face contorted into a cute but angry look.

“I know, but I couldn’t help it! Ok, your turn!” said Yatina, who now offered Mimi her turn to tell her prediction. Mimi’s face immediately changed to a happy grin as she hugged her best friend forever and took a deep breath before she started her story.

The light that surrounded John was suddenly and rapidly sucked into John, who glowed with an unnatural power, before it burst forth from his body, the shockwave forcing Fran and her angels to brace the ground to stay in their spots. As soon as the three recovered, their eyes quickly focused on John, who was now quite different looking from before he entered the light.

John’s skin was now a light green, his body covered in a white toga. His muscles were now 50% bigger than before, allowing him to flex in all sorts of crazy poses. His hair, however, was quite different from before. First off, his hair was no longer hair, but rather snakes, three of which seemed to have sentience. Two of the three snakes were rather large and capable of doing complicated tasks, the third snake was a smaller one and tended to stay right at the top of his head.

“NONONONONONONO!” screamed Yatina. “You’re doing the same thing I did!” accused Yatina.

“Nuh uh! I didn’t add myself to the story! I just made John into me! Clearly different!” argued Mimi as her sneks nodded their heads in agreement.

“Yeah huh!” continued Yatina, not intent on letting Mimi win this argument. “We agreed to not be in our stories!”

“And I wasn’t in the story! John was just exactly like me!” argued Mimi again. The two kept on bickering back and forth until the light beam they both had taken their eyes off of began to pulse. The two quickly looked over and watched in awe as John finally emerged from the light.

The light slowly died down, seemingly being absorbed into the ground. That is, until it got low and thin enough that it was clear the light was going into John, who had a holy aura around him. His eyes were tightly shut as he seemed to be concentrating on absorbing the light. Everyone watched silently as they witnessed John seemingly power up with this light.

“My my, that is sooooooooome holy power radiating from him. Fran, deary, are you sure it was a smart idea going against him? He seems to have quite the knack for learning magical abilities,” Hannah told her summoner as she analyzed her opponent’s sudden burst of power.

“His connection to the Holy Light must be incredible if he was able to gain all that power from it!” an amazed Rachel told her companions. Fran just scoffed at her summons’ assessments of her target. I am the one with the stronger connection to the Holy Light than him! I have been trained with it since a young girl! Hell, I’ve gained the ability to summon angels! What can he summon? Nothing, that’s what! Fran told herself as she picked up her sword and rushed towards John.

John had not spoken a single word since he landed back on the ground. He was far too busy basking in the newfound power he had gained. He wasn’t quite sure how it happened, but his Gamer abilities seemed to react when the angels attacked him. Perhaps the proximity of creatures born from holy magic, specifically the Holy Light, was able to somehow upgrade my Paladin Module. I gotta thank those angels once I deal with Fran.

John, now enhanced by the Holy Light, moved much faster than he used to and intercepted Fran, who was caught completely off guard by John’s astounding speed. Before Fran could even react to John being so close, John quickly brought his ax up and slashed it across Fran’s chest, a gash appeared across her armor, nearly going through the armor.

“What? No! Impossible!” yelled Fran, unable to comprehend how John’s attack could puncture her enchanted armor. Fran, incensed at her plan collapsing around her, began to panic. Something she had not done in many long years. “I won’t lose!” screamed Fran as she swung her sword wildly at John. John was **** to fall back out of her range, still completely silent. “WHY WON’T YOU TALK?! WHY WON’T YOU ANSWER ME?!” yelled Fran as she charged at John, her weapon ready to slice him in two.

John readied himself for Fran’s attack, securing his footing to be able to parry or block her attack and counter with one of his own. Fran saw his stance, one she’s seen many times before and, as such, knew how to counter it. The two came to blows, John’s axe parrying Fran’s sword to the ground, just as she had planned. Her left foot found its target, the back of John’s right leg. The sudden blow **** John to collapse to his knees, where a swift uppercut from Fran connected cleanly with John’s helmet covered face. John stumbled back from the attack, his head rattled from contact with the sides of his helmet.

“Gah! That fucking hurt!” cried John as he dropped his ax and grabbed his head, removing the helm in an attempt to stop the ringing and throbbing pain in his head.

“HAH! FINALLY MADE YOU TALK MR. POWER UP!” yelled a hysterical Fran, who started laughing at being able to injure the empowered John. John, meanwhile, had dropped his helm and recovered his weapon.

“WHAT’S SO GOD DAMN FUNNY?!” yelled John as he brought his Crusader’s Strike empowered ax down on Fran’s head. John watched as his ax, a few mere inches from impacting Fran’s skull and slicing it in half, had stopped. John pressed harder but his ax would not budge.

“Hah. HA. HA HA. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!” laughed Fran, her voice digging into John’s head, infuriating him. He brought his ax up and brought it down again and again, over and over, all to no avail.

“Oh my, guess he really is nothing more than a dumb dumb,” sighed Hannah as she brought her blade out. John looked over to the angel sisters to see that Rachel had her eyes closed, clearly concentrating on something. That’s when it clicked for John.

“So, that angel is projecting the shield that stopped my attack? Guess I’ll have to take those two out first,” decided John as he disengaged from Fran and rushed towards the two angels. Hannah smiled, flapped her wings, and rushed straight towards John. Their two blades clashed as they came into contact.

“Oh, look at you! Able to block my attack this time! Someone deserves a sticker!” taunted Hannah, her soft smile conflicting with John’s urge to kill her.

“And I won’t fall for the same trick twice!” retorted John as he activated Avenging Wrath empowered Divine Storm. Fran yelped in pain as she took a few hits of John’s swirling Holy Power tore into the armor of Fran’s arms, causing her to drop her sword as she retreated out of its range. Hannah stared directly into John’s eyes as the two locked sights. Hannah stood in John’s Avenging Wrath for as long as she could, in an attempt to demoralize John.

Rachel, meanwhile, had quickly cast healing spells on both Fran and Hannah once they had gotten out of range from John’s move. Rachel had not moved from her spot, her hands clasped together, her eyes closed, her mouth whispering words John could not hear. So it looks like her defensive powers require her to basically pray. That means she’ll be open to attack. So that’s probably why Hannah has her weapon out, to run interference so she can keep doing her thing. Gotta always take out the support first. With a plan in mind, John executed it immediately. His three opponents, however, had no intention of letting him complete it.

Hannah once again intercepted John, her flight able to counter anything he could do. That did not deter John, who countered every attack the enemy angel performed. Fran, not wanting to be left out, rushed towards the two battling and joined the fray. The two on one attack quickly turned the tide against John, who could handle both of these enemies by themselves, but now struggled to fight them both. The two attacked in tandem, one covering the other’s weak points that John hoped to exploit after he dodged or parried an attack.

Shit! It’s clear these two have battled together plenty of times before. And Hannah seems to be able to resist my holy based attacks. It makes sense with her being an angel and all. Perhaps it’s time I try that move? John thought to himself as he analyzed the current situation of the battlefield.

“Let’s see how you two deal with this!” announced John as he prepared his next move.

"MODULE CHANGE!" shouted John, who began to glow as he spoke those words.
