Keeping calm

A while later we were in Sony’s room, sitting down with her in the restroom doing her hair. Ivan and I sat down on the bed with Gabi leaning against the wall staring at the door. Gabi had explained on the way here that Sony had some experience against this kind of stuff. She didn’t elaborate on it though. “Okay, I’m ready. So what happened again?” Sony asked, her hair wrapped in plastic. I guess she was busy dying her hair when we came in.

“Someone broke in somehow last night and took a picture of us. You know, probably from that stalker you told me about.” Gabi started off. “We got some text messages from them teasing us about it, we didn’t know what to do so I called you for help. I guess I don’t know what to do too, I’m hoping you do though.” We stayed quiet, patiently waiting for her reply.

“You know when I told you about it, I mentioned you kept it hush hush, like between just us?” Gabi rubbed her neck nervously. “I know and I’m sorry but like I didn’t know what to do and now we’re stuck in this as well. Please help us out here Sony.” She crossed her arms before looking at Ivan and I. She looked a bit silly with that plastic wrap on her head, it didn’t change from how serious the tone was though. “Who got the text?” “Huh?” I looked up as Sony repeated herself. “Who got the text?” “I did.” I answered. “Then sorry to say but you’re the main one in trouble here.”

“Me?” Ivan looked at her with his eyes wide. “Wait what do you mean he’s in trouble, what’s going to happen?” “Relax, it’s nothing physical so far that I know of but first let me explain. This has been going on since last month, someone has been taking photos of other people and either blackmailing them or picking on them. Ya know, real mental shit. I don’t know how far this goes, I’m not even sure if it really started last month but that’s as far back as I’ve come to know. I first heard about this personally last week, but it has started affecting some people close to me so yea. Can I see the photo?”

Ivan, Gabi and I traded nervous glances at each other. This grew awkward really fast. Sony sighed. “Okay you don’t have to show me I guess, it’s usually something embarrassing or super private so I get it. The main point is whoever got the text, that’s the obsession. You said you got it, new kid? Then you’re the obsession, best of luck.” “Well fuck me. About to be my third week here and already I got a stalker. Never had that in my old school.” I muttered. “Well, first for everything. Now I don’t usually pry I mean I could care less but, a lot of the times these photos tend to be sexually explicit so to say, does whoever you were with know about this too or?” I looked down and rubbed my arm, embarrassed to look at her or anyone else. “Well you should probably tell her no?” Sony asked before glancing at Ivan who blushed and looked away. “Oh, or him I guess.” She turned to find Gabi turn her head as well. “Christ, was it all three of you? Holy hell, you really are a fuckboy aren’t ya?”

The door handle jittered before turning, making way for a brunette girl around my age, tall and thin looking. This time wearing a short sleeve shirt with skinny jeans and a familiar face. She paused once she noticed us. “Oh, hello? Gabs, hey! Uhh, Ivan, Alex? Sony do you need the room, should I go?”

She shook her head. “Probably best you don’t. You might want to stick around for this.” “It’s fine I guess, I just need to go pee right now so I’m just gunna-yea.” She pushed through and closed the bathroom door behind her. “Why does she need to know?” I asked Sony, a bit annoyed at her wanting to share about my situation. “Relax fuckboy, it’s not for gossiping reasons. I told you before how I heard about this last week, you recall me mentioning how this affected some people close to me?” I nodded.

“Well, she’s the girl I mentioned.”
