An Unwelcomed Surprise

“So did she only send you one text though cuz it says you have three?” Gabi pointed out. “Oh yea.” I said back, checking my notifications. Two of them were from an unknown contact, that’s weird. Usually a new number would still be shown via the phone number but this just says unknown. Huh, weird. I got two texts from them. “It’s probably a wrong number but... let me see.”

I pull up the two texts I received, my eyes growing wide as my phone slipped from my grip. It would have hit the ground if Gabi didn’t grab it in mid fall. “Christ, that was close! Butter fingers.” She teased before noticing the look on my face. “What’s wrong, was it something they sent?” Her curiosity took the better of her as she peaked down only to stand up immediately. Ivan got up as well, “What’s wrong guys, you’re scaring me.” She looked at me, we didn’t know what to do about this. “Think maybe we should take this back to your room guys? For privacy sake?” She offered, with Ivan looking more concerned. “Is it that bad?” “It’s um..we’ll tell you in a bit. Here.”

She gave me back my phone and turned around, heading out the double doors. I grabbed Ivan’s hand and followed after her as we walked back to our room. It was a long quiet walk, I couldn’t help but look at everyone we passed by. People just tend to have that wandering eye when you feel you’re being followed, as everyone glanced at us before moving along. Maybe it was cuz I was holding hands with Ivan but I didn’t care, like Gabs I just wanted to hurry and find some privacy. Hopefully.

“Oh christ, what the hell.” Gabi muttered. We approached the door and saw what she meant, someone left an envelope taped to our door with a heart drawn on it. She yanked the envelope down and looked at me, I motioned for her to open the door and passed her my key. Today wasn’t getting any better.

“Okay, so what’s going on?” Ivan asked as he shut the door behind him. Gabi breathed and combed her hair back, pacing a bit as I sat down. Neither of us knew how to start. “Is the door locked?” I asked with Ivan turning back and locking it. He sat down and hugged my arm. “You guys are really making me nervous here, I don’t know if I should ask.” I rubbed his hand and nodded. “You definitely should but... oof, it’s just kinda scary haha.” Gabi shook her head. “Go ahead and show him.”

I sighed and fished out my phone, swiping to the messages. Ivan sat to my left, Gabi came in and sat to my right as I pulled up the text.

Gabi held up the envelope, ripping it open and pulling out a photo with a red heart drawn over it.

It was an image of us, sleeping together in bed cuddled up.

“W-What’s the next message say?” Gabi asked. Oh boy.

Hope you caught my little present, you three make a beautiful trio.

Um... what?” Ivan asked, holding me tighter. “Was someone watching us? Did someone break in? What’s going on, is this a joke?” He shook his head as I held his hand. “If it is a joke, I’m not playing a part in it. Swear to it.” I said back to him. “No I believe you it’s just, I don’t know...”

Gabi snapped her fingers, standing up and pulling out her phone. “What is it?” I asked. “I heard about something similar like this from someone else. Something about some sick stalker snapping photos of people when they’re asleep.” “A-Are you sure that’s the right move here?” “Do you have something better?” I shut up, she was right i guess. I held Ivan close, opting to comfort him. His face seemed upset and worried, I didn’t like seeing him like this but damn, I was nervous too. Never had something like this happen to me before,

“Sorry, it’s just... you know. All of this has me nervous that’s all.” I nodded. “It’s fine, we’re all just kinda scared here. So uh.. who’s your contact then?” She cleared her throat and put her phone away. “Well, we can go see her luckily. You remember Sony?”
