Chapter 24 by Fantasy Fantasy

How do things proceed?

Another one of your dreams.

The next time you’re in the Labyrinth, you go inside your dreams again, feeling like there was progress made despite the awfulness of it.

Fortunately, this time doesn’t seem like a nightmare, even though it sounds like one.

You’re in a very dark place. It’s hard to see, but the light of a torch allows you to see the stone walls that form the tight corridor you’re in.

You’re not alone, you notice. There are three other people with you, and they look like they came right out from The Lord of the Rings. It’s hard to explain, but you know that the people with you are a Dwarf Druid, a Human Wizard, a Gnome Rouge and you, the Dragonborn Paladin, a humanoid dragon.

You go through this dungeon carefully, walking behind the Gnome as he checks for traps. However, he makes a mistake and you only notice the ground opened up from under you once you’re already falling.

Everyone falls hard on their backs with a loud thud. Your heavy armor makes the fall even harder for you, but you’re tough, you can take it. However, everyone starts to panic as two walls begin to close in, threatening to squash you and your teammates.

The Dwarf Druid suddenly transforms into a huge rock monstrosity and uses his new and humongous strength to punch a hole into one of the unmoving walls, creating an escape path for you.

Yet that path leads you directly against a fearsome creature. The powerful vampire has been expecting your arrival, and soon your team and her are locked in fierce combat.

You manage to deal the finishing blow, with a sword shining in radiant light. You all feel relief, but soon return to the task as hand. Searching her body, you find a letter, proof that she was plotting against the kingdom from the shadows.

This dream is a memory as well, but not of something that really happened, but of a time you played a table-top RPG with a group of people. It was, in a way, a sad to remember, because playing with them is one of your fondest memories of high school, yet as you were beginning to form a friendship after a few weeks, they all had to move away, leaving town.

When you wake up, you’re sad again, but this time, there’s also some comfort, remembering that not everything that happened back then was terrible.

Has there been progress?
