"Thank you, mom," Marlissa smiled as her mother-in-law poured Earl Grey tea into her cup.

"You are welcome, dear," Catherine smiled.

"So what are your plans for the rest of the day?" Edward asked.

"Shopping," Marlissa giggled, glancing at her husband..

"Obviously," Edward chuckled.

"Do you have plans for dinner tonight?" Catherine asked her son.

"No, we don't," Ryan replied.

"Good, you two can come by for dinner then!"

"Well, it'll be great to have a home-cooked meal again!" Ryan cheered. "Thanks, dad!"

"I'm cooking?" Edward asked, surprised that his wife volunteered him to make dinner.

"Would you rather have me cook?" Catherine mused.

"Only if we're going to have burnt fish and chips!" her husband laughed.

"Maybe we will!" Catherine frowned, feigning hurt.

"I am sure I will enjoy anything you cook," Marlissa interjected to defuse the tension.

"Well, I hope you like lasagna because I make killer four-cheese lasagna!" Edward boasted.

"Yes, I love Italian food!" Marlissa cheered, reminiscing on her previous time centuries ago with an Italian master.

"It's a date then!" Catherine smiled, clapping her hands.

"Well, we should get going to go shopping while dad preparing for dinner," Ryan grinned.

Marlissa stood up and exchanged kisses on the cheeks with her in-laws. "It was great to finally meet my new family!" she chirped. "I look forward to your cooking, dad!"

"I will give you a call before dinner is ready, dear," Catherine told her son and leaned in to whisper into his ear. "She is a sweet and beautiful girl. Be good to her!"

"Yes, mom," Ryan smiled and took his wife's hand to lead her to the front door.
