Chapter 14 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

Who does the familiar face belong to?

Dawn Summers

"Dawn?" asked Buffy. "Or should I call you Anne?"

"Who's Anne?" asked Dawn. "On second thought, never mind. We have to get you out of here. Xander gave me this pocket knife so I should be able to cut through these things holding you down in just a jiffy."

"Xander?" asked Buffy. "Gave you a knife?"

"Sure he did," said Dawn. "Why shouldn't he? Anyway, there. Now you have one hand free. Let me get the other one."

"Where is Xander, by the way?" asked Buffy.

"Waiting outside by the exit with Willow and Giles, of course," said Dawn. "There. Now both your hands are free. Now let me free your feet."

"Why is he waiting outside?"

"I don't know," said Dawn. "That's just how we planned it. Everyone agreed that I was the one most likely to be able to sneak past the guards."

"So everyone else is 'waiting' for me outside?"

"Yes," said Dawn. "Why does that seem to bother you? I thought you'd be glad that we finally made it here to rescue you. I'm sorry it took us so long to track you down but there were so many problems -- Oh, good. Now your feet are free."

"Thank you, Dawn," said Buffy. "So now I suppose I follow you outside?"

"Of course," said Dawn. "Why not?"

"Because my mom didn't raise me to be an idiot," said Buffy.

And with that, Buffy punched out the person who had called herself Dawn Summers, only to immediately hear a slow clap from just outside the entrance to her room.

As Buffy did a silent doubletake, the woman who called herself Dr. Dana Scully re-entered the room and smiled. "Took you long enough to figure it out," she said with a pronounced British accent. "Are you sure your mummy didn't raise any idiots?"

What happens next?
