Now what?
Buffy questions her mother some more
"Anne?" said Buffy. "Why that's my name."
"No," said Joyce. "Your name is Buffy, not Anne. Remember?"
"No, I mean Anne is my middle name."
"Don't be silly, Buffy," said Joyce. "You don't have a middle name."
"Yes, I do," said Buffy. "It says so on my birth certificate."
Joyce shrugged. "If you say so."
"Don't humor me, Mom," said Buffy. "I may not know a lot of things in this world but at least I know my own name."
"And yet you didn't even know the name of your own sister," said Joyce.
"There's something terribly wrong here, Mom," said Buffy. "Perhaps I should talk to this 'Anne'. Find out what she knows."
"If you insist, Buffy," said Joyce. "However, the doctor said you can only get so many visitors today and anyway, Anne can't make it today. Maybe tomorrow."
As Joyce turned to leave, Buffy realized that she was about to be left behind in the psych ward for yet another day.
"Wait, Mom," said Buffy. "At least try to get me out. I'll do better this time. I swear."
Joyce turned with a sad expression in her eyes. "That's what you said last week, Buffy. Don't you remember?"
And then she left.
Leaving Buffy to wonder how long she had been in this place.
What happens next?
