“I would love to help.” You state sincerely, but there is something that feels slightly off, though you're not sure what it is. “But how could examining at museum piece help an independent insurance appraiser?”

“Is the Crowley Necklace part of the new collection?” Kyle asks.

“Yes, it is.”

“I have a client interested in occult objects.” The gorgeous Gothamite explains. “This person asked me to appraise various items in Metropolis, including the Crowley Necklace, if possible.”

“I know this piece.” You find this whole conversation intriguing. “It has an interesting history. Crowley created the necklace to hold a green gem that he though was a magical meteorite found by the famous sorcerer John Dee in the early 17th century. The gem was tested by the noted physicist Henry Moseley, who concluded it was just glass. As a historical oddity it has a little value, but that's it.”

“You know something about jewelry?” Kyle notes in a surprised and almost an aroused voice.

“No, not really.” You shake your head, “I like history, and I try to read up on any piece at comes through the Athenaeum. But why this necklace?”

“My client tends to have a more positive view of legends then most.” Kyle explains. “They might make a sizable offer to your museum to buy the piece, depending on my report.”

“Well, as you know," you respond, "museums usually don't sell pieces, but there are exceptions, especially for a piece of little value.”

“So, doc?” Kyle gives you her emerald eyes. “Any chance I can get a look at the rock?”
