Chapter 8

Does Dorothy take off her slip?
No
"Heck, no, Scarecrow," said Dorothy. "I'd just as soon leave it on."
"But it's so dirty," said the Scarecrow.
"Well, it's not going to get any cleaner if I take it off and put it on the ground," said Dorothy. "And I'm certainly not going to go hang it up in a tree. Especially in this place. How's it's coming with the Tin Man?"
"I'm almost finished," said the Scarecrow. "Just one more squirt and ..."
The Tin Man's eyes opened. Then it glanced at Dorothy and a quick blast of steam came out of the top of its pointed little tin hat. "Hubba-hubba," said the Tin Man. "Where have you been all my life?"
"Kansas," said Dorothy. "Where are you from?"
"Doesn't matter," said the Tin Man. "One look at you and I thought I was in heaven. Because with you here, Heaven must be definitely missing an angel."
"That's very sweet," said Dorothy, "but right now I need you to take your ax and chop down that apple tree."
"That apple tree?"
"Yes, that apple tree. My dress is inside it and I need you to retrieve it."
"Can't we make out first?" asked the Tin Man.
"Tin Man!" exclaimed Dorothy.
"That's my name, honey!" said the Tin Man. "Don't wear it out."
"Tin Man!"
"Hey, I'll be gentle with you."
"So not the point, Tin Man. Go get me my dress and then we can talk about the other stuff."
"All right," he said, "but you're the one standing around in your slip. What am I supposed to think?"
"Well, just because I'm standing around in my slip doesn't mean that I want to be standing around in my slip. Now please go get me my dress!"
The Tin Man just shrugged, and picking up his ax, walked over to the apple tree.
"Gee, Dorothy" said the Scarecrow, "I saw you first. How come you did not want to make out with me? I have needs. I have wants. And unlike that Tin Man, I'm pretty sure I have a heart."
"Again, so not the point, Scarecrow."
"Don't be like that, Dorothy," said the Scarecrow. "Things will work out. At least you're not naked."
At that moment, a large animal flew down out of one of the trees and grabbed Dorothy. It looked like a flying monkey but by the time Dorothy could be sure, it had already stripped her of her slip and her underwear, then flew off through the west with these items in its paws. The only thing the monkey had not taken was, of course, the ruby-red slippers.
"Gee, Dorothy, I didn't see that coming," said the Scarecrow.
"Oh, shut up, Scarecrow," said Dorothy.
