"I do have plans!"

"But don't assume I don't have plans on a Saturday night," he said, pissed that she was right. "I'm on a hot date right now!"

"Whatever, loser," Caroline said. "Just be here on time tomorrow."

James didn't respond. His boss was the furthest thing from his mind. He was in a restaurant across from Jan Weaver, a girl he had a major crush on back in high school.

"I'm a hot date, huh?" She asked.

"Um, well, yeah..." He stammered.

"Then why did you wait so long to ask me out?" she asked.

"I... I didn't think you'd say yes," he admitted as his brain giggled, wondering if he'd just had a stroke or something.

"You never know until you try!" She said with an adorable shrug.

"Lesson learned," he said. Indeed. Whatever was happening, what did he have to lose?

"So you have to work in the morning?" She asked.

"Yeah, I guess so," he said.

"That sucks," she said. "Maybe we should skip the movie and just hang out until you need to go to bed."

"That would be really nice, Jan!" He said. "You're so accommodating!"

"Yes! Yes I am!" She agreed.

"We'll have more fun this way anyway," he grinned.

"No doubt about it!" She nodded.

The waiter approached with a bottle of wine.

"Oh! If you have to work tomorrow, should we skip the wine?" She asked.

"You don't have work tomorrow," he shrugged. "I'll just have a glass and you can drink the rest."

He had meant it as a joke, but she nodded enthusiastically.

"Sure! I'm accommodating!" She agreed.

The waiter shrugged and filled their glasses. Jan downed hers before they had finished ordering their entrees and the waiter dutifully refilled.

"You're going to get drunk at that rate," he observed as she took a gulp of her second glass.

"Yes. Yes I am," she agreed, and took another big drink.
