Well, it happpened

On Tuesday, Spencer seemed on edge, something his daughter picked up on immediately. "You okay Dad?"

"Yeah, I'm good sweetie. Why you ask?"

"You look tense?"

"I just... made an error in one of my jobs. That's all." Spencer knew he sounded unconvincing, but Amy seemed to shrug all the same. When he pulled up by Carter Junior High, he got out of the car with Amy. After giving her a hug, he said "Be good in class."

"Always. See you Dad."

Spencer watched Amy rush of the class, which delayed his escape long enough for Evelyn to approach. "Spencer."

"Uh, hey."

"Listen, about the weekend..."

"Well, it happened." Spencer looked at Evelyn, wondering if he really should push her away. Here's a hard-working, attractive mother who was looking for some companionship. She would never replace Kirsten, but she didn't have to. Was there really anything wrong with having another loved one in his life.

"It did. Look, you should feel comfortable, and if you don't wanna do anything..."

Spencer then did something bold. He pulled Evelyn in and gave her a deep kiss, right in front of everyone. It was impulsive, stupid, and maybe everything they both needed. Once the kiss ends, Evelyn gave Spencer a dumbfounded look, which put him on edge. Maybe she was as unsure as he was. After a deep breath, Evelyn said "Wow."

"Maybe we could, you know..."

"Go on a date?"

"Sure."

"Any ideas?"

"Maybe we can work it out. I've got your number."

"True... Well, I better get going."

"Of course. See you soon."

"See you Spencer."

Spencer got back into his SUV, where he drove home with his heart pounding. He didn't exactly know why he had done it, but it happened. Back home, he went through all the places he could take Evelyn on the weekend, but soon enough realized that he'd have to work around Evelyn's restrictive schedule.

When it came time to pick Amy up, he wondered if she had witnessed what happened. When he pulled up, he watched Amy rush to the SUV with a smile on her face.

"Hey sweetie."

"So, I saw someone fix their 'work error' this morning."

"Uh, yeah."

Amy giggled. "You're so cute Dad. For real though, that was really romantic."

"Well, I try."

"So you've made any more plans, Romero?"

"Not just yet... And I just want you to know I'm not trying to replace Mom..."

"I know Dad. She'd be happy for you. Really."
