Becky notices a crack in the western passage wall

Becky began making her way down the western passage, stepping cautiously down the long, winding hall. The heavy shadows made it difficult to precisely tell what lay ahead, but also helped to mask her presence. Despite her discomfort seeing in the dark, Becky was relieved for the safety the shadows seemed to provide. She was alone here so far, but there was comfort in knowing that if she did encounter an enemy, she could likely fade away until the danger passed.

Since it only appeared to be a single passage, Becky began to trace her fingers along the right-hand wall so that she could keep herself better grounded amidst the near pitch-blackness of the tunnel. Her fingers ran over cracks and protrusions of stone, tracing the rough surface until she found... a crack.

Becky paused when she felt her fingers slip into an opening in the wall. Feeling around and leaning in to look closer, Becky realized that there was a fissure of sorts in the stone and earth. It wasn't particularly wide, and in the darkness, she almost certainly wouldn't have noticed it without her hand tracing over it. But, as she felt around, Becky realized that the gap in the wall seemed to lead through to another wide, open area-- perhaps a cave or tunnel like the one she was in now.

She doubted the Gnolls even knew it was there, but if they did it would almost certainly be the perfect place for them to hide valuables... or even prisoners. Becky shimmied up against the wall. It would have been an uncomfortably tight fit for most people, but Becky's slender figure allowed her to slip through fairly easily.

She stepped out into an open space. With no real way for outside light to get in, the world around her was black as pitch. The air felt warm, but... slightly damp, humid and, below it all, there was a strange, soft thrum of undefinable pressure. It was soft, but constant and undeniable pulsing gently like the heartbeat of the earth itself. It took everything in Becky's body not to flee that very instant.
