New Employee

“Hello,” you say, “The neighborhood association placed an ad for new employees. I wish to apply.”

The guard looks at his clipboard. “Oh, yes. There were a couple of openings. Let me escort you to the main office.”

You nod and follow the guard. “How long have you worked as a security guard here?” you ask.

“Not too long,” he says, “A couple of years.”

“Pays well?”

“It does and good hours. You just have to keep your head down and keep the riff raff out.”

You let him lead you to a small house a short distance from the entrance. There is a bulletin board out front full of neat and orderly posters describing events going on in the area.

He leads you inside, “Good luck with the interview,” he says with a smile.
