"Ms. Sterling?" you say.
Her room, in a side wing off the building housing Boarbristle's great hall, opens as you follow Miss Hemstitch's glowing mote of an assistant to the door.
It's dark, save a single glow in the corner. Ms. Sterling has placed her wand in a stand and caused it to emit a dim light.
"Come in...Eric," you hear from inside. It's Ms. Sterling's voice, but faint.
You step in and the door closes behind you. As your eyes adjust, you see Ms. Sterling lying under a coverlet on her bed. The rest of her room remains indistinct and shrouded in gloom, a glimmer here, a vague shape there.
"There's a chair by the bed," she says. "Come sit."
"Ms. Sterling?" you say. "What's wrong?"
You have Ambition -1, Bravery 0, Cunning +2, Diligence +2.
Miss Wormwood the nurse owes you a FAVOR for your donations of seed.
Ms. Sterling, your Enchantments instructor, is your FRIEND assigned to tutor you in controlling your wild talent. She owes you a FAVOR and has promised to give you a project (a GOAL) related to Enchanted Objects.
You have a CONSEQUENCE: PREGNANCY SCARE with Ms. Sterling.
You have 5 XP and may apply ADVANCEMENT.
On a 7-9, you have to convince Ms. Sterling to move things forward in the way you want:
- Expend her FAVOR. She'll go along, taking +1 Forward on your next roll.
- She'll do it if you have sex with her. HAVE SEX, and on a 7+, she'll do what you want.
- Describe what you do to convince Ms. Sterling, in character, to go along with what you want in the presence of other complicating factors.
- Take another CONSEQUENCE, which will advance you to PATERNITY. Treat this condition as GET OUT OF DETENTION with a CONSEQUENCE still applying, but in this case you'll be dealing with the academic, social, and practical complications of Ms. Sterling's pregnancy. (To complicate things, Ms. Sterling may end up as both a FRIEND and a HANGER-ON under the pregnancy rules. Stay tuned!)
