When John looked down at his shoulder, a slightly impatient pop up blocked his view.

The pop up disappeared, giving John a good look at a thick, pink scar going from his nipple to his collarbone, it was like a giant cut, with a jagged edge around the middle, the skin standing taut across it.

Due to the corruption and magic blocking properties of the nightmare’s horn, Gamer’s Body can’t fully recover to its previous state. Leaving you with a scar.

John trailed his fingers over it, feeling that it was slightly harder than normal skin but not that different; the insides of his body seemed to move normally, and he could use his right arm without a problem, so it seemed to be a purely aesthetic thing. While he did not like it, he didn’t hate it either, and seeing as there was nothing he could do about it… He would leave it at this.

“It’s a scar, nothing but a scar. Apparently the unicunt had something going on with his horn that blocked my magical body ability. So instead of regenerating to a pristine geeky body, I now am a scarred geek. Hope you don’t mind,” John said with a wink, causing Cynthia to chuckle. With a few deft hand movements he was naked too, jumping into the warm water next to Cyn.

The water was warm, but not overly so. It felt like he had jumped in a comfortable tub, one he could literally swim around in, small vapors dancing across the top of the pool as he felt around with his hands, his legs keeping him up by slowly treading water. He soon felt the stone platteau Cynthia was sitting on, and he sat down next to her, getting a naked, wet girl to paste herself to his side right away, resting her head on his shoulder while her fingers poked at his new scar.

“It looks cute, makes you look less perfect, which is better. No one likes a plastic doll; a toy that has seen some use is way more attractive,” Cyn murmured as John wrapped his left arm around her. Closing his eyes, he soaked in the warm water for a moment, then opened them again to a hail of pop-ups.
As Jack has reached level 10, Protec the Innocent has shattered.

John groaned at that last achievement, but more still came; he was happy she didn’t call it a phoenix down at least.

With that, his torrent of achievements came to an end; in its place, however, three messages hung in the air.

Well, Mr Newman, you didn’t dissapoint us, you did it. I would work on the triggered gamer state of yours, but, I am no monster, and I know you were under a lot of stress. You shouldn’t hunt today. Just as John dismissed the last pop-up, one more appeared.

I am both impressed and angry. No hunt is worth your life. EVER. You should be grateful that they managed to get you back. Don’t die on me again.

John smirked softly, rubbing Cynthia’s head. Kissing her forehead as he felt a sudden wetness on his shoulder. Looking at his girlfriend he saw that she was crying, due to the pop-ups he hadn’t even noticed.

He lifted her head up, feeling her tightly holding on to his shoulder.

“Hey, hey, Cynthia, it’s okay. It’s okay. No need to cry okay?” he whispered softly as she looked at him, eyes red and down cast.

“No, it isn’t you stupid nerd! You died out there. The moment I reached you, you were dead! How could you be so bloody stupid!?” she screamed at him, causing her words to echo in the cave. A few hunters cast a glance at them, before going back to their business.

“I know, babe, I know. I’m sorry. I was stupid, I managed to get into bad situation after bad situation, and eventually, I died. I’m sorry.” He kissed her lips, trying to show her it was okay while he was perplexed by his own rational thinking. He was basically just glad he was alive and afraid of fucking up that badly again.

Cynthia thumped her fist on his chest, then did it again. “You, You! I…” she continued to sob, and John, John let her; he held her to his chest, comforting her as she let it all out. “Don’t die on me again. You were my first, are my first boyfriend, and I intend to keep you, okay?” she asked in a small voice a few minutes later.

“I promise. I don’t want to die either. I will be better. I promise you. Really.”

“Good,” Cynthia nodded. Rubbing her eyes as she kissed his chin.
