Diaz sat rather comfortably in the back of the carriage looking out the window as the priest droned on about the history of the school. “So Mr. Diaz who was the first headmaster of the academy?”

“Wait what I zoned out umm sorry about that, “Diaz laughs nervously.

“I thought as much,” The priest says. “ No matter but I expect you to listen to what I’m about to teach you. If you don’t you will be liable to fail and die during the exam. Do you understand?”

“Yes I understand,” he mumbles., “in fact it actually sounds like you care rather or die or not. Which is a change from your usual tone. “

“ Off course I care if you live or die, “ The priest laughs. “I mean if you die then you will have been the first person I have ever brought to do so during the exam, and I will not let you tarnish my record.”

“Hmm you know if you weren’t a priest I think you and I could get along,” Dia snorts.

“great now she is talking again,” the priest sighs rubbing his temples. “ Look the exam is not terribly dangerous, but if your not careful then it can become a living hell. The first exam is the easiest as well they will simply cast a spell that will give a breakdown of your physical and mental ability.”

“wait they cast a spell to do that? No taking a written test or picking up a rock with my mind?”

“Yes none of that now if you would please let me finish. The spell will give out data that can translate into 5 different numbers. Those in order are Unity, Strength, Endurance, Mana Rate, and Agility. Which will then be used to determine your bracket. They will explain what that all means during your classes, as each one takes time to understand.” The priest says as he grabs a small stone from his bag. “The next exam is the dangerous one, As you will be given a raw element stone. This is something that you will keep with you forever so don’t lose it. When they hand it to you use a glove to pick it up, otherwise you risk it gathering all your mana in an instant, which would unleash a blast wave that will kill you, do you understand that?”

“Umm yea but if it’s so dangerous why would I keep it? Wouldn’t it be saver to just never use or touch one,” Diaz says backing away from the priest and his stone.

“No it would not, remember the incident that caused the explosion? That was caused by your mana going out of control. That’s also the reason all mages must be trained, otherwise every time you came in contact with an element stone you would risk that happening.” The priest says bluntly. “ trust me when I say that we would never give you one otherwise. Now then as I was saying don’t touch it with you skin, instead what you need to do is to try to feel it’s presence and allow it to draw your mana over time.” He then closes his eyes as thin lines of energy forms connecting him and the stone. “That’s what should happen when you do it. When that does happens and, only then will the stone change color. Which will bind the stone to yourself. It will be as useless as a pebble to anyone but you. Over time you will even be able to summon it from other places, although you should not depend on that. As it should never leave your side. Those are your two exams, and depending on the results you will be put into one of a few different classes. I would tell you about them, but there all pretty similar only two are completely different, and I seriously doubt you will qualify for either one.”

“How can you be so sure of that,” Diaz asks. “Wait don’t answer I have a feeling I know what you would say.”

“ Ohh do you now?” He laughs , “well no mater I have told you all you need to know so if you excuse me I’m going to rest for a while, and I suggest that you do the same.”

“why not those three days of sleep weren’t enough for me two deal with you two anyway, ” Diaz mumbles.
