Detached.

"No no no no no!" you plead, staring back at Rixx, looking at him as you're still on your knees "Please. Please don't!"

Rixx just stands still, his sword still pointed in the middle of Lexie's back, just standing there, waiting, watching.

"Rixx!" Lord Edmin says again "Off with her hand." he orders once more.

You look at Rixx, seeing his eyes once more, they are looking back at you, his emotionless stare seems to be never ending.

"Rixx..." you grumble out quietly, your head shaking back and forth. "Please..."

And then he starts to move, his sword pulls away from Lexie's back, allowing her to take a deep breath, readying herself to get her hand removed.

His sword maneuvers ever so carefully through the air, as if that huge greatsword was as light as a feather for him. It circles around before clinking and locking behind his back, his sword put away, his hand goes back to Lexie's shoulder holding her on her knees.

You hear Edmin growl from the side, pacing a few times before he groans "Fine!!!" he reaches into his waistband and pulls out a dagger all in one motion, "I'll do it myself!!" He takes two steps forward towards Lexie, ready to detach the hand of the Sunrider.

With one more step, he comes to a complete stop as a loud crash echos through out the throne room.

All in unison, every single Elite Rathkin warrior around the throne room took a step forward and began to pull their weapon out of their waistband a few inches. That sound, dozens of elite warriors stomping with one foot on the ground along with the slight little clink of their swords raising a few inches.

Edmin froze as he looked around the room. Looking among these Rathkin warriors, all who would follow their Commander to **** and beyond.

For the first time since you entered the room, Commander Rixx turns his head towards Lord Edmin and he finally speaks, that deep voice, full of bass and power "We have chosen you to be the King of the Syndicate..." Rixx begins "But you of all people should know, very rarely are the Kings the ones who hold all the power."

His stare didn't break from Lord Edmins. At that point in time, it felt like that moment would last forever, those brief few seconds in time. Those few seconds where the tension was as high as it's ever been between both Rathkin members. Their eyes burned into each other, challenging each other, overruling each other while continuing to stand their ground.. The two Rathkin members glared at one another, staying silent for such a long time, waiting for the other to finally break.

It wasn't long before Lord Edmin stuttered in his step, slightly back peddling just a few inches. He swallowed hard as his eyes continued to beam at the Commander.

Finally, Lady Bree's hand touches her husband's shoulder "Leave it be." she says to him, coaxing him out of his situation "It's okay." she talks to him.

Lord Edmin eventually puts the dagger back into his waistband. At the same time, every single warrior around the room steps back, bringing their bodies to the wall, standing up straight and relaxing their weapons again. "I've had enough of this, it's late, we'll talk tomorrow" The defeated Lord Edmin mumbles as he turns, grabbing a hold of his wife's hip as the two of them begin to walk out of the Throne room. "Good night..." he mumbles as the couple steps into the darkness of the hallway.

It isn't long before Commander Rixx notices they left the room, "Stand up, Sunrider." he commands, his head moving back in your direction. At the same time, he releases his grip from Lexie's shoulder, allowing her to stand up, her back still facing the man. "You're free to go." his voice orders.

Lexie just stands there, taking a few deep breaths, regaining her composure. She takes two steps forward and stops again, stalling, she half turns her body, finally looking back into the person who held her on her knees, looking up at his face "Rixx...." she whispers out to him, a slight smile appearing on her face. "Thank you so much." she nods at him "I truly mean it..." her grin arches upwards as she can't help but smile at the Rathkin commander "Thank you, Rixx..."

The Commander just nods back at the Sunrider before turning to his left and marching towards the exit of the Throne room, a handful of his elite warriors following him. He stomps forward in his march, ready to exit the throne room and get some much needed sleep.

"Rixx..." you mumble out as Lexie stands there, watching him leave.

As he hears your words he stops, holding his ground. The Commander of Rathkin halts, freezing in his position but not looking at you. He stands still, just waiting, his elite warriors right behind him hold their stance as well "Thank you." you say, your head tilting to the ground as you can't look at the man "You have no idea...I mean" you take a breath "Just...just, thank you Rixx." you repeat again, grateful for what he did.

He holds his ground just briefly, not saying a word, just waiting for a few moments. He doesn't even respond to you, no words, no nods, nothing. He eventually steps forward, making his way to the exit of the throne room, his elite warriors march in toe behind him.

Lexie runs up to you, falling onto the ground next to you "Darien, oh my god Darien!" her arms wrap around your body as you return the embrace, holding this women as tight as you can.

"Lexie...I'm so glad you're safe." you pull your head into her, resting between the nook of her chin and shoulder, into her neck.

Lexie just holds her hands around the back of your head, holding you so dearly, comforting you. "It's okay. It's all okay." she repeats over and over again. "We're safe. I'm safe. It's okay."

The two of you continue to sit on the hard marble floor, holding each other close. Many tears of joy seep down your face as you believed Rixx was going to shove his greatsword straight into her beautiful body. You thought that once again you were going to lose the love of your life.
