When you have to GET OUT OF THE INFIRMARY, on a 10+, you are back on your feet soon. If you had a CONSEQUENCE, remove it.
"Well, you're looking much better, Miss Redmoor," Miss Wormwood says. "In the pink of health, as they say." The green snakes growing from her head in place of hair all nod in a ripple of agreement. "But as much as I'd like to continue your training in potions and doses, your House has first claim."
Her pale, greyish-tinted face has long, sharply traced features, and the sinews stand out in her neck. As slender as she appears, her limbs might as well be worked by steel wires. The Nurse is stronger than you, for sure, and you wouldn't know whether to bet on Miss Wormwood or Dorothy the Porter in a contest of strength. You wonder if her appointment at Boarbristle might be a sinecure, a comfortable but engaging retirement job in reward of some dire service to the Powers that Be. Now that you're most of the way through your first term, you've wondered that about several of Boarbristle's instructors.
"Right, I have to be preparing for Conjurations," you reply. "I'm supposed to conjure the Binding Vines on Rebecca."
"I imagine practice will be later," Miss Wormwood says. "Gentlemen?"
"Miss Redmoor," your Housemaster, Fergus Firetail, greets you. "You look much recovered, after all I've heard you were up to last night. Sharper?" he says, nodding to Leontes' Tutor Preston Sharper, a semi-retired magical duelist.
The Nurse turns you over to the care of your Housemaster and the Tutor. Not the Warden, Barbara Torch, or the Assistant Warden, Asteria Hornbeam.
You were rather publicly and conspicuously naughty last night, in front of what seemed like half the senior witches and wizards of Boarbristle, so you suppose the other shoe has dropped.
Even if no one actually caught you and Dorothy together, like you caught Saltire buggering the Warden as she urged him to spend up her arse.
Dream on, Golondrina, you tell yourself.
Your Housemaster and the Tutor bring you to the Housemaster's office. Your stomach rumbles, and Fergus Firetail begs to demonstrate his alimentary conjurations. A few minutes' concentration, incantation, and passes of the Housemaster's wand bring into being a tasty and substantial breakfast accompanied with a large mug of strong tea.
Somewhere during breakfast, your mind goes a bit blurry, and the Tutor and Housemaster's light conversation turns toward what happened the previous night.
You spill it all without hesitation, the words tumbling out of your mouth like wet shiny jewels, sparkling in the bright morning light through the Housemaster's office window.
"I thought Dorothy might be lonely after Marina couldn't see her anymore, and I wanted to be close to her like my first day so I went to see her but she said she'd promised never at her place so she said after polo practice she'd meet me, so off we went but she tucked me into her tunic and I was tired, I dozed, I didn't know how we got to the Fifth House, but when we got together it was wonderful, lovely, magical, Dorothy at the height of her pleasures, her sex filled with Marina's gift, a wooden member, Dorothy was so overjoyed that Marina had made something special for her, or had it made, Dorothy had been using an old bedpost or banister post until someone stole it, Dorothy was so sad. And then we rested together and that terrible plant thing broke through the floor, the wall, and all the tentacles, the vines, it was terrible, Dorothy lifted me up and out the window, I ran naked back to fetch the Warden and I found her in the practice chambers, bent over with Andrew Saltire behind her, his member inside her, spunking inside her, in her other hole. And I could feel magic right then when Andrew gave her his seed. But he stepped back and I spoke up and the Warden turned right round and let Miss Hornbeam know to fetch people and then she took my hand and conjured us both back to Dorothy..."
You pause, having run completely out of breath.
The Tutor nods. "That's in close agreement with what Saltire told me," he says to Fergus. "With the end of his story. I may have missed the enchantment, if there's one. You may wish to check Mr. Saltire yourself, or prevail on Minerval for Euryale's help. She's quite sensitive to subtle magics."
"Probably just pleasure magic," the Housemaster says. "Give the boy a good time. Make him feel like he's king of the world. De minimus alongside the rest, if that's what it is."
"Alongside the rest," Sharper says. "Yes."
Firetail sighs. "Golondrina, what shall we do with you?" he says.
You're still too out of breath to reply with what would have been I sure I don't know, sir. All that comes out is the last word.
"Sir?"
"Never mind," your Housemaster says. "You're on restriction for sapphic fornication with a member of Staff, the Porter. For the rest of the term, you'll be in House, in class, in the Library, or for extra lesson as arranged. Not the kitchens, not the Fifth House, not the Polo Pitch, not the Porter's Cottage, not the boat dock, not Turnbuckle and especially not the Weirding Woods. He traces a sign in the air with his finger and intones a word. "The prefects will know if you're out of bounds."
You bow your head. "Sir," you say. A tear rolls from your eye and lands on your breakfast plate. "Dorothy will be sad. Lonely. She misses Marina."
"We all must do our best," Fergus says, "And sometimes important things are hard."
Another teardrop splashes on your plate.
"Now, Golondrina," the Housemaster says. "Aside from your misstep with Dorothy, you have been an admirable, diligent student. Your roommates, your instructors, and especially Miss Wormwood speak highly of you."
Miss Wormwood. A fierce, hungry lover, quick to use her paralytic, aphrodisiac venom, while Dorothy was full of sweet enjoyment and sincere gratitude.
"I expect great things of you," Fergus says.
I expect much of you in all ways. Sometimes it feels like a competition, Miss Wormwood had said.
Who else wants a piece of Golondrina Redmoor's soul? you wonder.
There's a tap at the outer door.
"Ah, that would be Rebecca," the Tutor says. "I asked her to take you back to your rooms."
Rebecca.
On your way back to your rooms, Rebecca bubbles over with her progress practicing on the Shimmering Cloak, and asks you when you can start practicing together on the Binding Vines.
Sapienta is very happy to see you, and hungry for a meal of your blood.
But not a piece of soul.
Remove your CONSEQUENCE.
Dorothy the Porter, Marina Madeline, Housemaster Fergus Firetail, and Miss Wormwood are your FRIENDS and each will freely grant one FAVOR. Your familiar Sapienta also counts as a FRIEND with a FAVOR.
Rebecca Honeybee is your HANGER-ON (-1 to rolls against her) and owes you a FAVOR.
You have 5 XP, -1 AMBITION, +3 BRAVERY, +1 CUNNING, and +0 DILIGENCE.
You have a GOAL from Mrs. Travers for your Conjurations class: Perform the Conjuration of the Binding Vines on Rebecca Honeybee. This is a +CUNNING(-2) task to perform.
At some point, you may apply Advancement to spend 5 XP for a character advance, including an advancement in Golondrina's story - a deeper plot thread, a hard choice, a demanding friendship, a difficult GOAL? Perhaps something about the history of Boarbristle's Fifth House?
Some options for a next Move:
- You don't want to be separated from Dorothy. Roll +BRAVERY(+3) to ENCOUNTER Miss Caldwell, the Librarian, and ask about a spell to meet her in your dreams. On a success, spend 5 XP and gain the spell DREAM SENDING. You'll be able to ENCOUNTER Dorothy in dreams and HAVE SEX.
- You're fascinated with the notion of a Fifth House at Boarbristle. As a Custom Move on CUNNING, dig into the history, reading between the lines where necessary. Roll +CUNNING(-2) to get the full story. Also gain +1 XP. On a 7-9, you get a partial story and have to Get Out Of Trouble or use your FAVOR. Perhaps there's a person with a active interest in Boarbristle's history who could be your FRIEND (spend 5 XP to gain a FRIEND and FAVOR as part of Advancement).
- Practice your conjuration with Rebecca as the subject. Treat this as APPEASE YOUR HANGER-ON. Roll +AMBITION(-2) (-1 AMBITION, -1 HANGER-ON). You may use Sapienta's FAVOR for a +2, using your familiar's subtle senses to read Rebecca's feelings and fears, or Marina's FAVOR for a +2 (putting Rebecca in a good mood with sexual favors).
- Go straight to trying to ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL of Conjuration of the Binding Vines. Roll +CUNNING-2(-1) (+1 CUNNING, -2 Moderate Goal). You may use Sapienta's FAVOR for a +2, reading Rebecca's subtle tells so she's less likely to disrupt the conjuration.
- Ask Andrew Saltire how the Warden invited him to sodomize her. Is he in trouble?
