Chapter 19 by Yppah Yppah

Who is this mystery person?

Jessica. Wait, who is Jessica?

A set of eyes caught Eliza in the act of making her escape. Jessica, also known as Heather crony number 1, watched as Eliza morphed into the crowd. Knowing something's up, she sends a head up text to Heather then quietly slips into the abandoned classroom. Though Eliza may have taken care of the physical evidence, something she did not account for was the odor. The pungent smell bashes Jessica over the head as she sneaks through the door. Jessica connects the dots with a devilish smile, transcribing everything to the demon queen herself. A flurry of texts pass between the two girls, plotting a devious scheme to get take advantage of the information given to them.

Eliza, having no knowledge of her mistake, had other things on her mind, like the test she just took. She may have been able to give the finger to Heather, that doesn't change the fact that she bombed the test. Hovering around a low C, bombing a test could send Eliza's grade into failing territory. This ate away at Eliza as she walks back to her apartment, the anxiety compounding on itself. Taking a deep breath, Eliza knows that worrying about will do nothing for her, plus she'll find out later tonight anyway. Mr. Gordon seemed to relish in the anguish of his students, letting them know if they failed anything.

Grabbing the nob on her door, she finds it to be unlocked. With everything that had already happened that day, she almost forgot about Kat. Eliza braces herself for whatever may be behind the door, slowly turning the nob and opening the door. Her mind flashes back to the last time she entered her apartment, but she shakes her head. She can only hope that Kat has nothing insidious planned for her. Swinging the door open, she spots Kat on the couch. She had ditched her human appearance, sporting her normal blood red skin and devil horns. Is normal the right word for that?

Thankfully for Eliza, Kat's attention was not directed towards her, but towards the TV in front of her. The sound of a newscaster spouts about some recent headline, the tone very serious. No doubt reporting on some terrible incident.

"It's funny how you humans dwell so much on the negative. Is that all you guys find interesting?" Kat asks, though she seems to be thinking out loud rather then actually asking the question. With her gaze fixated on the TV, Eliza can safely assume that she isn't looking for an answer. Making her way towards the fridge, her stomach cries out with a low pitched gurgle. Grabbing the handle, she vaguely wonders how much food she has left. Eliza blinks profusely, raising an eyebrow at the sight in front of her. Her fridge was...full. In fact, Eliza's pretty sure there is more food in it now then there was this morning.

"Where did you get all this food?" Eliza asks after a moment of hesitation. "You didn't steal it did you?" She gets a slight chuckle as a response.

"What do you take me for, some kind of ruffian." Kat remarks, followed by another chuckle. Eliza rolls her head, grabbing a package of lunch meat.

"Don't be coy with me. You are a mother fucking demon after all." These words actually manage to stir movement out of Kat.

"What a mouth you got there. But to answer your question, no, I bought it."

"Bought it? With what money?"

"From my job."

"Job?"

"Yep, got a job at the near by strip joint. You should join me, the sexual essence in that place is to die for." Eliza rolls her eyes, wondering what she was expecting. She can't deny that the job suits her though, her body is quite literally made for it.

Now done with her sandwich, Eliza munches away as she sits next to Kat. In response Kat sprawls herself out, laying her legs across Eliza's lap. Eliza opens her mouth to protest, but stops herself, it's just not worth the effort. Besides, she can't say that she hates the playful gesture. If she has to live with a demon, she might as well get used to her antics.

"So, how was your first feeding? Invigorating ain't it?" Kat asks out of the blue.

"How did you...wait. Were you spying on me?"

"Nope." Kat answers bluntly, stretching out her legs. "It's all about your demeanor. If you've indulged yet, you would be a sopping mess right now."

"I...see."

"So, who was it? Where? How? Tell me everything." Kat gushes like some gossip hungry teen. Eliza hesitates for a moment, not exactly comfortable with disclosing such information. She steels her nerves, hoping that will help it become easier.

"It was...my friend, Jason."

"Oooo, a friend. How bold."

"I mean, it sounded like a good idea at the time. We were at school and I was-"

"Wait, you fed on him at school? That must have been _hard _to pull off." Eliza ignores the obvious pun in Kat's words and the dumb smirk that came with it. After a deep breath, Eliza begins to go into details about her encounter, knowing that keeping any information could spell the end of her sanity.

"You took it raw, damn. You must have been drenched down there." Kat remarks in an all too nonchalant tone. Eliza squirms at her words. Though it might be common place for Kat, it still feels slightly taboo fore Eliza to talk about such a grotesque act. "That must have been difficult to wipe from his mind." Silence filled the room as Eliza didn't answer. Kat leans up, a more serious look on her face. "You...did wipe his mind, right?"

"Um...well..." Eliza trails off, knowing that Kat already knows the answer.

"My god, I knew you were green, but I didn't realize you were this green." She plants her head into her palm, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "It's too late now. Guess you'll just have to live with him thinking you're a slut. Congratulations."

"Well, actually..." Eliza blurts out before stopping herself, but it's too late. Kat has already read into her words, coming to her own conclusion.

"You didn't, did you!?" Silence fills the room again, giving Kat her answer. She sighs deeply. "So, what did he say?" The sternness in her question felt unsettling to Eliza, like a child getting scolded.

"He said he wouldn't tell anyone. He's trustworthy, we've been friends since like, 10."

"I guess people wouldn't believe him anyway. Still, you messed up pretty big here girl." Kat glares, her yellow eyes seemingly starting strait through her soul, only adding to Eliza's already unsettled mood.

"You're not going to...punish me, are you?" Kat doesn't answer, still grimacing at her. This only fuels Eliza's worries as she squirms under Kat's gaze. A thought of bolting enters her mind, but it's quickly snuffed out. Bolting would only aggravate Kat even more. After another few moments of silence, Kat's stern face softens.

"No, though the thought did cross my mind." Kat says, laying back down and draping her legs on top of Eliza again. "What's done is done. I'll just have to have a talk with him." Her calm demeanor worries Eliza.

"Don't do anything rash, please." Kat simply giggles, not giving a formal response. Exhaling deeply, Eliza does her best to accept the situation. Though now she knows that she can wipe people's minds, that'll come in useful. Kat begins acting like the conversation never happened, flipping through the channels without a care in the world.

It comes off as odd to Eliza. Even though she's only known Kat for a few days now, she is already weirdly comfortable with her. The thought runs through her head again. She is comfortable with a literal demon living in her home. What the hell is wrong with her? She looks at Kat's glistening red skin, the awe from before completely absent as it's become commonplace. Maybe, she can get used to this. Reaching for her nearby book, Eliza begins to read, resting her arms on Kat's legs. She sees a small smirk out the corner of her eyes, bringing a small smirk to her own lips. Yeah, maybe this isn't all that bad. Staying like this for a while, Eliza glances at the clock, finding that she has to leave in about an hour.

Where does Eliza need to go?
