A Day Of Exploration

"Well, I suppose we could actually hike around the mountain," Brian shrugged,

"Around the mountain?" JJ asked back in some confusion, "What are we gonna see, snow and trees?" He lightly chuckled,

"Hey, that's a nice view JJ, don't knock it," Kailyn pipped up,

"Thank you," Brian nodded while flashing Kailyn a quick smile before immediately looking back to JJ, "Uh, b-but that's not all," He coughed out, while JJ slightly raised his brow, "This mountain has plenty of things we could check out. Caves, old fire watchtowers from the eighties, hell, back in the fifties they used to mine this mountain for coal. That means there are dozens of tunnels that poke out from different sections; my dad took me to a few last year."

"If there back from the fifties, those things probably aren't stable." Anna pointed out, sounding a little fearful of the fact, "We don't need anyone getting trapped in a cave in."

"The ones I went to are perfectly fine," Brian assured the blonde, "My father was thinking about maybe setting something up, kinda like a tourist trap." He explained, "You know, come to the mineshafts and go on a tour or even mine out your own little souvenirs, something like that. So he's been working on putting in new supports in the weaker sections."

"Brian, how much fucking money does you dad actually have?" JJ asked with a bewildered look,

"Don't you know it's in poor taste to talk about other people's money!" Rachel called out causing Kenny to snicker,

"Sorry," JJ conceded his question, "So, uh, we're taking a journey to the mines, then?"

"I'm not," Anna firmly stated, "That's creepy, scary, and even dangerous. Count me out,"

"Same here," Eric agreed, "Now the watchtowers sound fun, I bet the view would be awesome up there."

"I could see that," JJ agreed with a nod, "But then again the mines sound pretty sweet, I bet there are all kinds of old shit left behind,"

"It does sound kinda cool," Mindy meekly agreed,

"You sure? I think the caves would be kinda neat. Well, as long as there aren't any like, mountain bears up here." Zoey lightly joked, "But if you want to go to the towers, I'll go." She warmly added towards Eric,

"What about you Ken? What are you thinking?" JJ asked his friend who froze as he sensed all eyes turn to him,

"Mines right?" Nicole suggested, "Or are you staying here, I am."

"You're staying here?" Rachel asked with a raised brow, "Why?"

"I don't like the idea of wandering around all day out in the cold. I'd rather stay here where I can keep warm." Nicole replied while keeping her eyes trained on Kenny, curious if he'd stay with her, wondering if she screwed things up to the point of him keeping his distance,

"Nah, head to the mines with us, man." JJ pushed,

"Yeah, Kenny," Mindy softly agreed, just barely loud enough for him to hear her,

"Well where ever you go, you'll need a guide." Brian tacked on, "Rachel you need to lead a group to the towers, and I'll have to take the others to the mines."

"And the caves?" Kailyn asked with a raised brow,

"There's no exact spot for them, that's more of a hunt." Brian replied, "So if you're doing that, you'd at least have to pair up or stay close to the lodge." Kailyn let out a small nod and thought things over as well,

"So where are you going, Ken?" Eric asked with a curious look,

"Uh..." Kenny hummed out, eyes wide at the choice. Either he went to the mines with Mindy, stayed at the lodge with Nicole, went to the towers with Rachel or go to the caves to think, and possibly piss every single girl off at once.
